When I had 2006 W211 w/OM648 the oil requirements were MB229.31, I use Pennzoil Euro I believe it was 5W30 and it is approved oil. You cannot go wrong using MB229.51/52 oils. I believe my car had DPF it is possible that 05 doesn’t.

On my 2006 MB E320 CDI I used the MB 229.31 specs or higher. The most oil used was Pennzoil Euro L.

I degrease the bottom 4” scuff with 400 grit, degrease and spray light color paint the 4” and have no problem reading the level.
