Measuring oil volume using scale and density?

Just make sure you use a measuring cup designed for liquid measure and not dry measure. It's is a real thing and the measurements are not the same.

    Mower storage for the winter

Quick question....what do you do about the condensation that's built up in the empty tank over the winter? Ask because you have a completely empty gas tank full of air containing water vapor. Unless you're keeping it in a warm enclosure, like heated garage, then you have the air within the tank...

is stabil needed when using no ethanol gas?

About that branded stations selling non-ethanol gas so you feel better about it.....I've got a Shell station where I buy my gas. The station sells non-ethanol gas via a distinct, separate pump. In very small print on the pump, it states the gas is NOT a product of Shell. Has the same markings...

    Battery for 2004 Taurus

I second this. I went through several WM Maxx batteries over the years, but in the few years, they seem to be getting worse in their reliability. Last one I used was 3 years ago and didn't last a year...and it was a warranty replacement for another WM Maxx that died in 2 years. Put in an...

    Fired my Oldsey today...

Nice car, OP. Enjoy and don't make the mistake I made by selling. I could make y'all cry by telling y'all about my 1969 Olds 442 W-30 convert. 4-spd w/air. Bought it in 1973 for $1,000. Still wish I had that car....

Windshield rust = scrap the whole vehicle?

I'm going to bet it's this....the results of shoddy repair work. My bro has seen this repeatedly during his 30+ years wrenching. (He's a "real" mech....in a shop and everything...lol!) Doing the work too quickly, slap-dash, without concern for end result. The shoddy work is covered up by the new...

Best deal on canned premix fuel?

Bought 3 gallons of VP SEF at WalMart on clearance. Should be enough to do me until next year when WM puts it on clearance again. Oh.....$10/gal for the first one. Went back the next morning and bought two more...price was $9/gal and I bought two.

First oil filter you ever bought

Dunno....since the first oil filter I purchased was back in the early 1970's, that event is lost to the mists of time and age....but I'd wager even money that it was a Fram.

    Oil Consumption Check-in!

2003 Chevy Silverado, 5.3L, 189K, no consumption over 6K oci's. Well, honestly, it did burn a bit of oil during one oil change...was M1 AFE 0W-30. Lost a quart over 6K miles. Went back to 5W-30 next change and the burning quit.

GM LS High Oil Consumption Fix(s)

The only time my '03 Silverado with the 5.3L ever burned oil was when I used M1 AFE, 0W-30, in her. Saw that and next oil change went back to a 5W-30 and the oil consumption quit. The truck has 188K on her. [censored] fine vehicle overall.
