    The Animal Shelters Are Full...

Never understood pure breds. As I recall English royalty tried that....kids wound up with six toes and worse. Not that there's not pure breds who need rescue, too. I volunteer for a wolf/wolf-dog refuge and some of the abuse we see is unspeakable. A big part of our message is that if you...

How do you keep bolts organized when disassembling things

I also use muffin pans. I think it helps to take brake cleaner to them to get rid of the non-stick coating. When new even sharpies don't really work, and I label each compartment with a permanent marker (Markzall, technically)

What are you working on today?

Awesome looking stuff there! Thanks for the resource. I see they sell a bushing install "press" (and it's only $10), but I just use a socket and 5/16‐18 bolt.

    Subaru purge valve operation

Working on an '02 Forester normally aspirated. Regarding the evap purge valve in the engine bay on passenger side of engine kinda tucked under the intake manifold: should you not be able to blow through it in either direction? I cannot blow through from firewall to intake, which I believe...

Never heard of Cunningham Machine -- I'll need to check it out. Sagging is normal. ANY slop in the bushing will translate to sag. If it's not a lot of sag (subjective and vague, I know), you're ok. Also the cheap kit I keep buying appears to have ferrous bushings. Not sure exactly what they...

    New tool thread

A bit of two extremes here. Nepros ratchet with its super fancy box (I have to wonder if they couldn't reduce the price a bit if they did away with the lipstick and gloss), and some uber-cheap 1/4" hex bit swivels from AliExpress.

    retractable air hose reel recommendations

Years ago I got several Cox on Warehouse Deals. Never have had time to mount them. Point is, deals can be had. I've never trusted inexpensive Chinesium self-retracting units. We had some in school that died an early death (but yeah, students) and then we were literally tying hoses to lathes so...

Castrol Edge EP sale at Advance Auto Parts

So....again, the conspiracy theorist in me says this was on purpose. They can hope a percentage of people will never receive or lose or never attempt to redeem the gift cards, or get frustrated and give up. Those that complain -- gee, it's magically activated (but yeah, some have had it...

anyone running Toyota T-IV fluid in a tranny rated for Toyota WS?

He reported a hum and vibration: https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/could-differences-in-viscosity-in-same-spec-atf-cause-fluid-noise-or-a-humming-noise-in-transmission-after-oil-change.381158/

    Ignition (key) module 2012 Ram

I think @GMBoy is a Ram fan (making his username quite the misnomer), so I'll gratuitously bump this to harrass him ;) I kinda think 2012 and earlier almost have to be rebuilt, but 2013+ people seem to have success just ordering the module and slapping it in with zero programming. I'm not sure...

Which of these for a 2014 6.0l vortec?

Factory should have been iridium and I'd reference RA for part numbers. Not sure about the Amazon seller AD Auto Parts but there's a chance those are counterfeit. I think you want the 41162 and there appears to be a rebate of $3 per plug (link in RA listings). IME ACD is wicked fast and no...

    New to me 2015 F150

Yeah agree with above. Let it sit a few minutes and leave the dipstick out while you do to keep the tube dry. In my advancing age I pretty much always wear a headlamp when wrenching and prefer this for checking dipsticks if I really care. For me it can help show the contrast between oil and the...

    Ignition (key) module 2012 Ram

The WIN in this '12 Ram 1500 requires the typical push 'n wiggle (not legal in all 50 states) to start the truck I need to address it but am unclear if it must be serviced, or can simply be replaced -- and if the latter if it will need to be programmed There are services like this that claim...

What are you working on today?

Serviced rear brakes on my non-profit's '12 Ram 1500. Auto Shack rotors, because, cheap ($66 for two rotors on Amz). Wagner semi-metallics, because, cheap ($16 on Amz) I had also suspected dragging caliper(s) and had ordered replacement hoses. The thing is, in the infinite wisdom of Chrysler...
