Got a Defective Oil Filter ... and it's not a Fram!

I'm putting my money on that too much pleat glue sealed the ADBV shut, and the oil had nowhere to go.

Quaker State Full Synthetic vs. Quaker State Ultimate Durability differences?

Quaker State Full Synthetic is the replacement for Quaker State Ultimate Durability. Quaker State reformulated its product line. Ultimate Durability has been discontinued. The bottles labeled "Full Synthetic" contain the current oil. Any remaining Ultimate Durability bottles are older...

BMW Thinks The Electric M3 Is So Good You'll Forget About The Gas One

Looks like a late model Chevy GTO trying to be cool.

Positive experience with Mobil 1 Extended Performance. What makes it so smooth.

If memory serves me correctly, ESP runs on the thicker side, and Pennzoil Ultra Platinum the opposite.

severe sludge accumulation in low-mileage engine (video)

Back when I worked at Land Rover, this lady brought her LR in and it had just 20K miles on it, had never had an oil change, and it was worse than that. This was around the year 2000.

In-N-Out shooting in Twin Falls, Idaho

When something like this happens, it's always another gun that solves it. Just another reason to carry. Every police officer I know advises carrying a weapon. Carrying a firearm helps one keep a cooler head in bad situations because you know you're not helpless.

I'm not entirely sure what to think about Pennzoil Platinum. The oil seems to be highly esteemed, even though it is not the Ultra Platinum version. I know there's some here who don't think either is a good oil, and I've been told this would happen no matter what oil I used due to moisture and...

Repairing damaged manifold stud and smoothing surface

Instead of heating the stud, try heating the area around the stud to bring the block's threads away from the stud. Although heating the stud does break surface rust tension, it also enlarges the stud. Heating around the stud will open it up a little. If you cannot do that, try heating the stud...

Worth the money or should I do it myself?

If you have plastic hub caps and would like to know if they're some of the noise you are hearing, test drive the vehicle without them on. Plastic hub caps can be very noisy and make several different types of noises. Groaning, especially in a drive-thru when cornering, clicking (like a pebble...

Inside Engine Pics @ 155K Miles, Pennzoil Platinum

Quick question for anyone and everyone; If I had been using Amsoil Signature Series instead of Pennzoil Platinum, what differences do you think we'd see in my engine pictures above, if any. TIA.

Sorry, I neglected one of your questions; the cam lobes are doing quite well, all things considered. Three rocker arms went bad at seperate times causing a ticking noise each time. The lobes that had failed rockers appeared to be okay.

Burns no oil. Oil level stays the same, and no problems with fuel dilution. I changed the pcv twice and spray it out with brake clean any time it's worked on, but doesn't seem to need it.

100% agree. When I see comments from people who say something like: "Anything earlier than 10K is just wasting your money. Full synthetics can easily handle that." Or, "no sooner than 5K. The engineers know more than you." I immediately know these guys haven't done many oil changes themselves...

Top was opened to replace a ticking lifter for a third time, and the bottom opened to replace the oil pump solenoid that went bad.
