FWIW, Dodge originally recommended 5W30 for the Pentastar engine, yet slowly recommended thinner and thinner until 0W20, and they didn't change a thing on the inside of the engine. The only update was a new intake runner and throttle body. Thank you for sharing your work!

I'm no expert, but from my searching it seems that would only become more of a problem as temperatures start to get cold and cause the oil to thicken enough to not flow well on cold starts, whereas the hotter the temps get the better it is to run a thicker oil. Just my opinion. My 25 Rav4 calls...

IMO, AI has its place and should be used very selectively. AI can make recommendations the whole group has missed.

I would point out, especially if you live in an area where it gets below zero fahrenheit, that your 0W20 sample saw 88% more engine starts where a lot of wear happens, and that viscosity had a much tougher task than what your 0W16 had to go through. At least looking at the months both were used...

Could it be on your steering wheel or shift lever? Those get touched when doing a drain and fill. If I were you, my next move would be to wipe down hard areas of the interior.
