I found with just about every cheap tire is they will ride hard. Either right away, or 20k later. My wifes continental pure contacts were $1K and have only worn down 1/32nd in 24K. Still ride like new. My local belle tire was in shock when they rotated them.

I haven’t had to use one outside of helping a guy at a Michigan game last year. He was running his crock pots off of his Silverado and starting it periodically until it didn’t. It’s only a 1000 amp but it fired up his truck like a new battery.

That’s why I don’t use it unless I’ve got a battery that I need to verify is going bad. I get some numbers when the batteries are new and track them as time goes on. So far at 18 months, there’s been no drop off in CCAs or voltage.

I’ve got a load tester but don’t use it unless I have to. Outside of that I have an ancel that’s very accurate as well as a few other options.

I’ve got jump packs in all 3 of my cars, so I’m going to see how long I can ride these out with the charging theory applied. I do test them once a month, so barring a straight up failure, I should have a good idea when it’s time.

I guess I’m not as educated on tires as I thought I was, but have never had an issue on hot pavement. Whatever the issue is supposed to be. I just did 1100 miles this week in 90 plus degrees and minus being squirrelly until they broke in. My new Pirelli’s performed flawlessly.

My experience with defenders is about 5 yrs ago. But they were hard as a rock. I still think Michelins last for ever, but so many are enamored by the name, they overlook the shortcomings. I’d take a Continental over Michelin any day. Less money and hits all the marks.

As someone who stocked up on oil like it was covid TP, I didn't pay more than $20 for 5 qts not counting the redline I bought for the wife's car. Which was the cheapest I ever bought it for. Articles like this have been screaming Wolf since day 1!
