    I didn't know synthetic oil had anything to do with crude petroleum oil or natural gas until recently. I thought it was completely different the way that say NutraSweet has nothing to do with sugar the way it is made.

    It is odd Hyundai would make a questionable design like the Smartstream after the Theta II issues. I'd double check to see what weight oil you can use without voiding the Toyota warranty. Those oil weights the manual pushes is light.

    Maybe 50/50 city and highway. Maybe 2000 miles driven within 4 months. 2019 Kia Rio with 1.6L direct injection. A gentleman above was doing 6K OCI on his Kia. He said the oil was in bad shape so he switched to 3K OCI. @ARCOgraphite

    My car isn't a turbo and doesn't have an oil temp gauge, so I don't know how hot the oil is getting. I don't know if turbos typically have oil temp gauges.

    A part of me wonders is 3K OCI with conventional is better than 5K with synthetic because it gets dirt, grime, carbon, and gas by blow by out of the engine sooner.

    It can't hurt to have oil analysis done. I don't know what the manual for your vehicles say, but my '19 Kia says 7500/yearly changes for normal use, or 3750/6 months for "severe" use.
