303 yellow bucket good enough for my needs?

The yellow bucket tractor fluid is so sketchy there is a class action lawsuit over it. It's just not worth the gamble. The best if it might barely meet an ancient obsolete standard. The worst of it doesn't even come close to meeting standards even for older tractors. In my town I can get Harvest...

    Auto parts commercial accounts

I've been working on dealership parts for going on 21 years in northern NY. We often need to use aftermarket parts for things like used car repairs for off brands, emergency repairs when parts aren't in stock, or older cars where customers need lower prices part options. We use Auto Value most...

Which would you choose John Deere stx38 or jd gx85

I bought a used STX38 for my dearly departed Grandmother's house. My brother and I mowed her place for years with it. She had a large yard and it was really too small of mower for the yard, but it was dependable , ran great, and mowed very nicely. That Kohler is a great engine, the only trouble...

    Neighbor gave me a generator!

Nice gift! It looks like a "Chonda", a Chinese clone of a Honda GX series engine. I've got a few on various OPE and they have been great engines. I would concur with using a HDEO 15w40 in a hot climate. I'm in a moderate to cool area of Northern NY, and I have used Amsoil 10w30 small engine oil...

Amsoil 10W40 Small Engine or Amsoil Premium Protection 10W40?

Thanks for the responses. I really am only interested in running the 2 oils I mentioned in the original post. I have used Amsoil in my small engines for 17 years + and am not interested in switching. I've really been impressed with Amsoil in my various small engine applications. Have put a lot...

Amsoil 10W40 Small Engine or Amsoil Premium Protection 10W40?

Why would I dump any oil at 15 hours? Engine has full pressure oil system with a filter. 50 hours at least being conservative. I typically only put around 40-50 hours on the tractor per year, so I don't mind spending the money on good oil for a once a year oil change.

Amsoil 15w40 vs Amsoil Small engine 10w40

Hi Bitogers, I'm looking for some opinions on which oil to run. I have a 1992 John Deere 318 with an Onan Performer 218 opposed twin. I've owned it around 5 years and I've been Using Amsoil Max Duty 15w40 since I got it. That oil seems to be working fine. I've been wondering about the Amsoil...

    Tygon fuel line

I plumbed a garden tractor with Tygon. I probably wouldn't bother again. It has shrank some and gotten hard. I'd use it again for the in tank pickup line, but for the rest of the system I'd just use black rubber fuel line from Gates or Goodyear.

    Toyota "FREE" oil changes

A Toyotacare service is more than an oil change. They are rotating your tires, checking your lights, checking your air and cabin filters and topping off all your fluids as well. They might have been running a little slow, but I find that service typically runs about 45 minutes.

    Click/Clunk --- 2008 Tundra problem...

In the Northeast, it's not uncommon to see steel brake lines rusted through on 8-10 year old vehicles.

    Champ Ph2876XL cut open

I believe the Champ XL was between $5-6 Microgard Select was around $8 Microgard Select is what went back on both Nissans and is my preference going forward.

    Champ Ph2876XL cut open

I was running a Microgard Select on my other Nissan that takes the same filter. While both filters held up great, the Microgard had significantly taller media.

    Microgard Select MSL51358 cut open

Here is the Microgard Select that was ran on my 2014 Nissan Altima 2.5. Was in service about 10 months and 11000 miles with Amsoil Signature series 0w30. Great looking filter! Significantly more media than the Champ XL for the same application. Think this is my "go to" filter now! Champ vs...

    Champ Ph2876XL cut open

Some pics of the Champ XL that was in service for about 18 months and 10k miles on my wife's 2011 Nissan Quest. Silicone Adbv was still soft and pliable. Louvers looked good, well opened up. And the media looked good. I don't normally let the oil and filter go past a year but life got away...
