    Seven day van adventure

I looked into doing some hiking in Colorado (not my thing to begin with). One of the guys said make sure to bring a tent…that’s all it took for me to bow out. No tent was going to be better than my air conditioned room at the Quality Inn. Hard pass.

What are you working on today?

Drove home to southwest Missouri from Sault Ste. Marie Michigan on Wednesday because I had gravel orders pop up for Thursday. It was a very long drive at around 1100 miles but I made it in roughly 17 hours. Hauled 5 loads of rock on Thursday and 9 on Friday. As I was finishing yesterday, got...

Possibly the dullest vehicle purchase of my life

First real “load” tomorrow. Headed over to the property cleanup job I’m working on. I added some bolt on D rings since the clowns that built the flatbed left no provision for attaching safety chains. I was going to put some 1” shouldered eye bolts in the holes next to the receiver but this was...

    Simoniz?

Heavily used in the truck wash industry. All of the commercial truck wash facility I have been through use their products.

First time seeing- handicap bar top at a bar

I have learned that there are many many ADA features hidden in plain sight that most people never notice. Even simple items like the style of a door handle or a faucet are a big deal.

What are you working on today?

Drove up to Sault Ste. Marie today after staying in Ludington last night. I totally found Ludington by accident, I just needed a room for the night and ended up right on the water. I’ll definitely be going back. Visited the Soo Locks tonight and I’m taking the boat tour tomorrow morning...

Looking at Ford Mavericks-traditional ICE or hybrid?

I have done two spill and fills on this one since I bought it. The first one with 5qts of Mercon LV, then 5k miles later with 3 quarts of Mercon LV and 2 quarts of Schaeffer LV. I’m going to do it again in another 5k miles with all Schaeffer. It gets down the road great but the down shifts are...

Most Common Brands of Oil Filters Are Poor Quality? 2026 F250 6.8L

This times 100. I have yet to see a bad Premium Guard filter. I am running Microgard Select from Oreillys on several vehicles.

What are you working on today?

Been out road tripping since Wednesday. In Walcott IA the last couple days for the Truckers Jamboree. Visited John Deere Pavilion in Moline and got to watch the locking process at Lock 14 in Le Claire IA. Honestly catching a tug boat here has been the highlight of the trip so far-I’ve never seen...

    Gun cleaning day

Hoppe's #9 solvent and Rem Oil have been my go-to since I started shooting. It's what my dad and grandfathers used.

Looking at Ford Mavericks-traditional ICE or hybrid?

Little bit of an update, at this time I think I have talked myself out of buying another vehicle. My Transit is paid for, pulled down 30mpg on the road trip I am currently on and I spoke with a local independent transmission shop that can swap in a reman transmission with what few updates are...

OEM Kubota skid steer batteries lasting 8 years

I can't speak for those in particular but sometimes you just get lucky. The battery in my Tercel is 12 years old if I remember correctly and still starts great. Had one in an engine driven welder that went 12 years of my ownership(don't know how old the battery actually was). The OEM battery in...

Engine blew up in the shop.

Customer is going to be suspicious and likely angry. I feel for your manager/owner/service writer as there's no smooth way out now. Based on your story I truly believe its just pure coincidence and bad luck but the human nature is to look for fault and since they delivered a running car to you...

Grease that doesn’t leak in the heat?

Definitely not Schaeffer 219. That stuff runs everywhere. I like it but it is one of the messiest greases I have ever used.

Ran the old Champion genset this morning

Arc faults prevent fires and ground faults prevent shocks. That's the simple comparison anyway
