1983 K2500 with a swapped in 454. It was worn out but fun!

    Which truck would you buy

I agree on the prices, they seem a bit high. The OBS is neat, nice style and the 300 six is a great engine, but more of a cruiser. Priced to be a toy, not a daily. The 06 and 2000 are equal in my book, if they were in the same condition. My impression from your description is that the Chevy has...

Motorcraft Oil Filter Catastrophic Seam Failure

I have a strong belief that they are faking factory filters. I had a VW filter bought off of Amazon that torn easily in my hand (cartridge style). Fortunately it didn't fail catastrophically like the OP's filter did.

Anyone ever change oil in rental car?

I probably would have at one time, but most of my rentals have been for work where I flew in and used the rental for a week or so. So no real need or opportunity. However, over time I began to realize that the rental companies absolutely do not care. As long as the car is outwardly undamaged...

    200k report 2018 Tiguan

My wife is a VW person to her bones. Since we've been together she has had 3 Beetles (1998, 2003, 2013 current), 2 Tiguans, and her current Atlas. All three Beetles have been pretty good considering the beating they have taken. The Atlas has been excellent. The Tiguans were first generation...

    Small SUV needed; advice?

Lots of good advice here. So I'll throw my 2 cent in as well. As a previous owner of two CRVs and having family (aunt and MIL) with RAV4s, I will say this, the RAV4 is the most reliable, least fun car to drive. The CRV is a close second on both points. Doubt you can go wrong with either.

Can't decide between Amsoil and Redline

You really can't go wrong with either. I might give the Amsoil a leg up on extended drains, but would avoid those during warranty period.

Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5w-40 Dark Color -- could it be fake?

I think the risk is there in every retail scenario. I read recently of a member here buying oil at Walmart, and finding the bottle filled with used oil. Slamazon can be similar. If you're questioning it, see if you can find a similar batch at an auto parts store to compare. You'll probably...

    Oil filter wasn't changed

It certainly looks crusty! I believe some filters may have a production code that has a date code in them. You might be able to find something by that, but even if you find this to be an old filter, that doesn't mean it wasn't changed. I'm afraid this rabbit hole could go very deep.

Troubleshooting A/C in 2004 Yukon XL

Like brages, I'm no AC guy. But in my limited experience, when low side and high side equalize pressure, that's when a compressor is suspect. I suspect something further down the line.

    Strange piston deposits?

Maybe its my old eyes, but could this be wear instead of deposits? Almost looks like cavitation. Could this be minor LSPI?

This is a good education for the rest of us. Much appreciation to the original poster and those that responded.

Blast from the past still available on EBay - German Castrol

Will only know if the buyer cracks one open and see's the green. And verifies the that sweet Gummy Bear smell. :ROFLMAO:

    Complaint about aftermarket parts

RA is a discount parts house for a reason. I've had issues, but I'd say 66% of the time I get what I ordered and it works. Rarely I get something at an incredible deal and it far exceeds my expectations: - I got a clearance deal on Hella bulbs for my CRV. It was chewing the Sylvania bulbs up...
