I don't think there is a Mercon-V spec full synthetic. As stated above, all Mervon-V is semi-synthetic. I don't quite understand why there are no full synthetic ATFs with Mercon-V rating, but I haven't seen one.

Yours sounds like about what mine is using (2004 LLY). I just put in about 1.5 Qts at just shy of 6000.

Would this oil be able to be used in a Ford 4.6L V8? I have an '04 Silverado Duramax on order, and if I chose this oil, and it could be used in both the Duramax and the 4.6, it would make life simpler. I currently use 10w-30 in the 4.6.

Ouch! That's fine, but right now, I need the ATF by Thursday, and I'm not sure yet if I'm going to use Amsoil. While it's a good product, it may be a bit expensive for me right now. I know I can get Q/S Synth. Blend for 3.49 a quart, Valvoline Durablend and the Exxon ATF are proably in the same...

I found an Amsoil dealer near me.. The general opinion is that amsoil makes very good synthetic motor oil. I would assume the same would apply to the ATF? Before I go in there and ask, does anyone have an idea approxinatley how mych the Amsoil Mercon V Synthetic should be per quart (They where...

Over on the TCCOA boards, it has been said that the Ford engineers (one or two of which are well known over there) cringe because of FMC's choice to go with 5w-20 to satisfy the EPA or whatever, and recommend at least 5w-30, and say 10w-30 is fine. Just my $.02

Well, the economy has fallen through the floor even after all the tune-up items, uneven compression, consumes oil (and smokes like crazy when idling), pings like a dinner bell under heavy throttle (not with 89, though)... And I want a higher-performance engine.
