We had a hitch installed on our 03 Camry 4 banger, and made over a dozen trips from Calif to here. Thats over the highest pass on I-5. No problems, no overheating. The trans fluid did darken and I changed it.
The things mentioned above are all good, to this I would add cleaning the battery connections. When I lifted the plastic cover on mine I found a ball of corrosion.
See if a product called EZ-Cam is availiable for your car. Our car, like most unibody cars now, only have toe in/out adjustments. Made a world of dif here.
Even though it's an older car I think you're into technical overkill. But if you don't mind doing the work and it makes you feel better.... go for it. At least this way you'll have an idea of the bottom line. And I agree with the post above... brakes, lights, balljoints.....
In talking with the owner of PROBLEND, he said a lot of both NASCAR and drag racers use their product. At something over $200 a pop. He said these guys will do just about anything to gain even the slightest advantage, so there're not going to admit anything.
One thing I like about the Militec company for is that they have sent over $500,000 worth of product to our guys in the gulf war for free. My feelings are that if you have motors and machinery you care about you use synthetic oil and an additive like Militec.
That said, for the average Joe who...
My 2003 Camry has piston slap when cold. I live at the bottom of a hill, and on a cold morning with out a warm up it sounds like a diesel. The sound goes away in a couple of minutes.
I'm actually using this to test several different motor oils to see if any make a diff.
It's a matter of money. If you're happy with the way it rides now, and you don't have unusual tire wear, and you don't drive fast on curving roads.... a good set of new struts installed could be $400 or more.
Truth is it's probably time for new struts if you intend to keep the car a LOT...
Considering that 86% of cars in the scrap yards still have the original shocks or struts, you see how most people care for their cars. Tough to beat Bilsteins...
My opinion too.... a little soft. So in a year or two I'll replace the struts. Like her 2 previous Camry's I expect this one to go over the 400K mark with no problems. Hard to say anything bad about a car that gives so many trouble free miles.....
I've been using MMO for 40 years in every engine I've had. I have a larger gas can that only has MMO in it, and a smaller can that I gas up from that larger can and then add the 2 cycle oil to. When regular oil burns, what's left behind is not a lubricant. When MMO burns what's left behind is a...
Thanks Quest
What you say here is true. All I knew was that the wife complained that taking curves in her 03 Camry never felt as good as her 16 year old Camry with worn out struts. It screwed the inside edges of the front tires pretty quickly, so when I got new tires I had the alignment checked...
No, the car was technically not out of alignment. The only adjustments are toe in toe out on both the front and rear wheels. They come stock with the front wheel camber a little wider at the bottom.... what's that negative or positive...??? (I'm not in the business.) And to make it wear a little...
