Thanks everyone (again) - I appreciate your responses. In the end I "lucked in" and actually found some genuine Honda 10W30 - so I've grabbed a couple of litres of that.
It's been an interesting exercise - and I've learned a lot more about oils in the meantime.

I have a Honda EU2000i portable generator that I keep for emergency use. I change the oil in it at this time of year every year (or more frequently if it's been used for quite a few hours).
