Copper and tin were normal at the first oil change which occurred at 3,000 miles. It started the climb when the HPL was added.
Not enough data to speculate if it has a defect or its oil related. It’s easy to change the oil with M1 ESP and flush out the HPL to see if the copper/tin goes back to...
Mobil makes an 0w30 ESP formula. There is also the Mobil 0w40 ESP which is barely a 40 wt and HTHS is 3.5. Its also Dexos 2.
HPL also makes a cold climate 0w30 as well. Your not going to find a DexosD 0w30 and may need to improvise if you want the wear metals to decrease.
Interesting, I didn’t know that about Clarios batteries. Not political for me either, factual information. With that said, I assume Walmart = ****ty so I don’t shop there for batteries.
It’s hot where I am too, regularly over 100 in the summer. I got 4 years out of the Deka/EP legend H8 and due...
The legend AGM battery shell is the same as it was the last time I bought one, it still looks like a Deka/East Penn product to me.
I pay more for a USA made product with superior quality. Don’t mind the small price difference. Since our politicians aren’t incentivizing USA made products and...
I understand how background metals can mask wear in UOAs or in this case a coolant leak with potassium.
That is not what I remember. I remember the XPD having some kind of iron catalyst and I commented on the LSjr YouTube video that it was likely ferric picrate.
I remember Archoil fuel...
The 20% off is a great deal on the NAPA legend and Odyssey batteries. Not cheaper than a Costco interstate AGM but if you’re looking for a premium battery it’s the best you can do.
ESP 5w30 is good oil, it’s low SAPS but I’ve never seen a bad UOA with it.
Mixing oils generally isn’t a good idea unless they are the same brand and formulation. You also must maintain a minimum 3.5 cP HTHS which VRP does not have. You may get 3.5 with blending, I’m not aware of a site that...
I’ve rented Chevy malibus recently with the 1.5 TGDI. I tried filling up with 91 because it was sluggish on 87. It had better throttle response and I beat the EPA highway fuel economy of 37 MPGs with 91 under less than ideal driving conditions.
If I owned a TGDI I would experiment with higher...
All 3 near me that have diesel pumps are newer Costcos in the suburbs. It’s much cheaper to build a new facility and add diesel pumps than shut down a working fuel station and retrofit. ROI would take years and not feasible IMO.
Dayco belts are the best for VW ALH diesels. Not sure about the WP though as I don’t buy a complete Dayco kit as their pump comes with a plastic impeller.
