Pfft.... I have 35 gallons worth of gas treated with Sta-Bil in my garage. I use it for my ATV, mower, all my pull start stuff, and as emergency fuel for the generator in the winter. Ethanol free 91 octane treated with Sta-Bil is absolutely good for at least two years. Guess how I know? Yeah...
I have a VW TDi with 417,000 miles and counting. I've used a variety of different additives and can't honestly tell a lick of difference between any of them. Stanadyne Performance and Schaeffers Diesel Treat 2000 will prevent gelling in stoopid cold February mornings here in lovely South Dakota...
That's pretty cool. The OP asked earlier which gen set was "better" than the other. The answer is "yes". They are the same, but different. The obvious difference is the engine. There are actually two different Predator 212 engines. The one with the octagon stamped steel valve cover is the older...
Those engines will last forever. For that application just leave it stock. You could rig up a 55 gallon barrel of gas and run at 1/2 throttle for months on end. I don't have a 420 but I've bought six 212s for various projects plus I have three other GX200 "clone" engines. The Predator engines...
Literally any full synthetic 30 or 40 weight oil will be fine. FWIW my Champion 196cc generator will start in two pulls in the absolute worst freezing cold one can imagine with Rotella T6 in it.
Honda GX series and the Chinese copies of them are the best in my opinion. Briggs is good too I suppose, if/when they feel like starting. I judge an engine's quality by how hard is it to start in the winter. ANY of the Honda GX (or clone) engines will start in 1-3 easy pulls in even the worst...
The Predator engines are stupid reliable. I have five 212cc Predators in my garage powering all kinds of stuff from my snowblower to mini bikes. The mini bikes probably get abused the absolute worst and the one issue I EVER had was um..... operator related...
For setup it is very simple. I...
I have the same quad! I typically run either Amsoil 10w-40 motorcycle oil or 5w-40 diesel oil in it. I've had a lot of issues with overheating in the past. On a nice clear day, no problems. Mud though...ugh. Mud. Mud cloggs up the fins in the radiator and it overheats. I thought spraying it out...
Alright. Some of you missed the purpose. I want to use race gas because it's a higher quality fuel that will last on the shelf for over three years. I'm not looking for power gain. I can buy it by the gallon for about $7 and put it in my own cans. High price maybe but the low usage will mean...
Ok. Been toying around with the idea of buying a small supply of Sunoco Optima 95 for use in small engines that see very little use over the course of a year. It advertises a shelf life of several YEARS. So... I live in the middle of nowhere and of course it's not available but there's a shop...
Meh. If you're going to use it up right away who cares? That being said I use pure gas just to eliminate a potential problem. My little engines burn so little fuel over the course of a year that it only costs me a few dollars more. Does it matter? Probably not.
