Bringing this thread back, but the 25 is a completely new 2.3 in the explorer vs the 24 down. They implemented the new 2.3 in 24 for the mustang, I think 25 for the bronco but not 100%. I have had an explorer with the 2.3 in the following model years: 17, 21, 2025. The new 2.3 is a "MPC"...

These mod motors do have a nice intake growl when you step on them. Takes me back to my cvpi days.

Ended up doing all pads and rotors, a caliper bracket, all pins and sliders, rubber grease bushes, parking brake shoes and hardware. It will be a new car soon!

I ended up with 30 quarts of 5-30 restore and protect @ $5 a quart. I feel a fairly good deal, and should be set for a few years. Either 5 changes in the Lincoln, or 3/2 between that and my 2004 Xterra.

I was thinking as I dropped the pan that I should have gotten the drain plug pan to replace it with. If I do another pan drop, I will probably go that route.

30mpg not representative of normal operation, but never under 20 and 24 pretty achievable. That 30.0 was about 40 miles at about 55mph, flat.

Pending the trans filter and first drain and fill, as well as fresh 75-140 in the pumpkin. These cars aren't fast, but they're not terribly slow either. They have good midrange for most normal driving needs. Also no DI, intercooler, cylinder deactivation, etc...

I ordered 3 5qt jugs of Valvoline restore and protect 5w30 from wally at $30 jug, and two FL820sw filters. I'm not super hot on the current 820 quality But I know it's spec'd so I will use one until I have the emotional energy to research a different filter. Probably a car quest premium...
