2003 Ranger Radiator Replacement: Which Coolant?

So I have to replace the radiator in my 2003 Ford Ranger 4.0L V-6 - it made it 235k before starting to leak, pretty good run. According to the Motorcraft coolant chart (Google it), I should be using: Y = Yellow-colored engine coolant approved to Ford specification WSS-M97B51-A1 (Motorcraft®...

    BW1354 Transfer Case: Best ATF?

Ford used a Mercon ATF for these and now specs some kind of Ford XL-12 Transfer Case Fluid (whatever that is). I'm trying to get my winter prep done around here in lovely Chicago area, and realized I haven't changed the transfer case fluid in like 100k. Anyone know if this been hashed out here...

Anyone have the MRV of Mobil-1 5W-30 High Mileage?

I've looked online, cannot find it. I want to determine which has better cold flow properties, Mobil-1 0W-40 or Mobil-1 5W-30 High Mileage...I can find the 40W but not the 30W MRV. Yes, I have put the question into Mobil, just haven't heard back from them yet.

Mobil HM or Castrol Edge HM

You might consider replacing the screw-in chain tensioners with Ford OEM replacements...you're in the year range I believe where they were still having problems. My '03 Ranger was good up to about 200k, then it started rattling like crazy. Might think about doing them before they get bad.

    Ford Ranger 4.0L SOHC, Mobil-1 ESP X1 0W30, 4980mi

I'll have another to post in a week or two from the fill I'll change out this week. It's been run longer, but not drastically so. Will be interesting to see how bad the wear is. I wonder if Blackstone can add a field for Plastic?

I can't edit the OP, so I'll just re-post below...keep in mind the rattle started around Feb or March of this last AutoZone run...: Code: Comments: CHARLES: It's funny how much oil carries over from oil change to oil change. Check out sodium - that was an additive in the AutoZone you used...

    Ford Ranger 4.0L SOHC, Mobil-1 ESP X1 0W30, 4980mi

Forgot I had this sitting around, figured I'd share. The run of oil before this was a 2700 mi run of AutoZone 5W-30 after the 2nd Auto-RX Rinse (2500 runs). This run below was in service 5.5 months and I have a nice Ford 4.0L SOHC timing chain rattle, so I'm sure some of the wear of it is...

I have a VOA of Mobil-1 X1 0W-30 ESP here. Amazon is your friend, it is way cheaper shipped to my door then buying it at PepBoys (only place locally to me that it's available that I know of). Chuck
