I have seen apps for only one car brand so it makes you wonder if they are targeted and they look to good to be true promising to do what a $2000 scanner can do. For example there are copies of toyota tech stream for sale on ebay and videos of people using it on brand new trucks seems stupid...

Can you not write data to the cars computer through the OBD2 port? If not how are you able to clear codes.

Is it possible for someone to screw up your car when using a OBD2 port scanner app? There are so many in the app store.

a corolla still going by the way. Only things i have done is change the oil every 5,000 change the tranny fluid when the color starts changing. Sill uses zero oil.

My truck needs tires and a alignment. The dealer is $300 more than costco for the final cost. I can get a $100 off coupon from the dealer and i think the dealer gives free tire rotations so i estimate the tires lasting me 8-10 years which means the dealer would be the same price in the long run...
