    Castrol Formula R 0W40

Molakule: I would suggest that either its is a re-named product (i.e. RS-the 'S') or, its a typo. And yes, I still say its a real syn. because of the way oils are marketed there. I know that in Germany, where they are required to specify (ie. HC Synthetics or Full Synthetics) type of oil, its...

    Castrol Formula R 0W40

THe Castrol Formula RS is a real synthetic unlike the new Magnatec, as its a group III. Also, one of the GTX's (in Europe at least) is also a group III, so be careful! You CAN'T go wrong IMHO though, w/ Castrol's Formula RS. The only Formula RS we can buy here in the states is the 10w-60...

    AMSOIL 10w-30-good or bad?

Next change @ 5K miles will either be Mobil 1 0w-40 or Motul 8100 0w-40 (its a full ester based oil). I may also try (if its not on back order again:() Motul's 6100 Synergie 5w-40. Although the Motul is the more expensive(same $$ as AMSOIL)oil, I hear it is grewat stuff, but so too is AGIP...

Does anyone have any data on Redline?

Bror Jace: Okay dude, here's my advice FWIW:) Have you had your valve springs adjusted as spec'ed by Honda? My 99' Si(I know, totally different motor-but...)had to have it done at either 20K or 30K. Reason I ask this is, one MUST wait until the engine has cooled down COMPLETELY before...

    AMSOIL 10w-30-good or bad?

Hey all! I am curious to know whether any of you guys think that AMSOIL 10w-30 is really a good oil to run in a hard driven 4-cyl. Mazda Protege'5 (Its a 2002)? I went ahead and compulsively bought some for my next oil change because the price and the specs were good on it. And they also claim...

Is Shell Helix Ultra & Castrol RS fully synthetic like Mobil 1?

Ive researched these two oils for months now and all that i can say is....check the MSDS if you can. I think that i read on a MSDS from an Asian country (i think Taiwan, or maybe not...and no i couldnt read it. the CAS# is the same everywhere though and the 'ingredients' were in english.) that...

    Mobil Supersyn revisited

NEWSFLASH!!! The Texaco Havoline synthetic being sold here in atlanta, ga is no longer made by Equilon!!! I checked the back of the bottle again and it said, "Made by ChevronTexaco", somewhere in California I believe. and its still only $3.30/qt!! THere were three bottles left on the shelf...

How much Pennzane is in Pennzoil synthetic?

BTW for you TDi guys: How much is VW charging for that 5w-40 oil of theirs? Last I heard it was $6.00-USD a quart! Also, has anyone seen the bottles of it by chance to see what is written on it? i.e. what specs it claims, etc. Also, where it is made? Lastly, there's always a serial number...

    BMW Syn. oil awesome?

The reason that I think that the BMW syn. oil is a PAO syn. is that the only oil Castrol makes in Europe that is a 5w-30 is the Castrol TXT Softec Plus brand and from what i've found out its a PAO/Ester syn. It is very possible however, that Castrol is able to formulate a group III, A3-rated...

    BMW Syn. oil awesome?

okay, ive purchased some BMW syn 5w-30 and looked at it and even smelled of it. i also compared it w/ some castrol syntec 5w-30 and 10w-30 ive got and its very different. the colour of the BMW oil is a VERY dark amber, whereas, both of the Syntec's are a much lighter colour. also, the BMW oil...

    0W40 in place of 10W30?

while using a 0w-40 is good to use in very hard driving IMHO (i thought about it and still do), a 0w-30 or 5w-30, etc.., will do just as well, so long as its HTHS number is greater than 3.5. this is so the oil wont lose viscoity over time or lose it quicker due to hard driving. Pretty much, it...

    Valvoline SynPower?

my advice is to either use BMW's Synthetic oil (5w-30) as its made by Castrol, but uses a composition completely different than that of Syntec. Our Syntec does not meet the ACEA A3 standard (do a search about it), whereas the BMW syn. oil does. This translates to great protection from your...

    Valvoline SynPower?

this is sad to say this about myself but....if y'all want me to, I can post the specs of almost every synthetic and group II oil (the major ones that is) that I have compiled. I've got a ton of them if y'all are interested to do a comparison of them. Oh, and I've also got the MSDS for Texaco's...

    Results -- Mobil1 Tri-Synthetic 5w30 in 2000 Integra Type-R

I had a 99' Civic Si(R) (Si, here in the states. SiR in Canada) and it used the B16A2 motor. The pistons, and I think cylinder walls were coated in molybdenum as well as the camshafts. Honda did this to increase the reliability of the B-series DOHC VTEC motors and in doing so, created a darn...
