Dan; Follow the top radiator hose to where it connects to the water neck or thermostat housing. Its kinda hard to see back there but these engines bad about leaking there. You wont see a leak as the coolant evaporates as it leaks under pressure. You can see evidence of a leak by the junk around...

I have a few antique tractors and I use 15-40 Delo. I put about 100 hours a year on one of them and no problems. Any quality HDEO 15-40 will serve you well.

I've have 3 Stihl 55's that are about 10 years old for farm use. I use them several hours a week with only a once a year tune-up.

I would run 15-40. Thats what I run in my Kubota's. In Oregon you could run an HDEO 10-30. I would not run a 20W. Rotella, Delvac, and Delo are quality oil at a good price. This tractor only holds four qts. so go with the good stuff and sleep well. FYI the hyd-trans holds 3.5 gallons.

I worked for a John Deere dealer back in the 70's and our friendly competition the IH dealer had those scouts for service trucks. Were all painted IH red and silver. They were as tough as a hogs nose.

I don't have any experience with that size tractor. I do have a Kubota M108X which is 108hp. It has been very reliable. I'm looking now for a 50hp to 60hp tractor and I'm leaning towards the Kubota M5040 with front wheel drive. I have been very happy with the Kubota equipment.
