Look at this blast from the past!

I believe Platinum came out in 2005, so seeing as how the label says "New!", it appears you have a quite a relic here. I think it's cool that you've having a VOI done on it and I look forward to seeing the results.

So are the ridges supposed to function like paddles, or are the ridges there to actually hold the snow in the tread and keep it packed? Or maybe they're supposed to keep the grooves clear and stop the snow from sticking? I'm a bit lost now as to what they're actually accomplishing.

So you actually do want a snow tire to pack up with snow? Is this because the snow packed in the tire is supposed to grip the snow over the road? And then the deep tread depth and often times directional V patterns of snow tires I assume are more for slush and wet traction instead of deep snow...

    Synthetic from dino?

Truthfully it’s not going to matter. The big draw to synthetic oils these days is how they allow for a lot more mileage between changes, like ten to twenty thousand miles. But conventionals will hold up absolutely fine just sitting for a year with a few miles on it. It’s not going to make a...

Mobil 1 0W-40 FS too thick for 1997 Civic?

With age/mileage, bearings accumulate wear. Without disassembling the engine and measuring the bearing clearances, we cannot say how much wear your bearings have. But, at that car’s age, there’s bound to be some wear leading to somewhat larger bearing clearances, which leaves more room for a...

In the Honda, I’m not sure if the Pilot was affected by this but other J series Hondas certainly were - the variable cylinder management causes oil consumption and here’s why. When the second cylinder bank “shuts off”, those cylinders cool down. This makes the piston rings contract, causing...
