Honda EU2000i and Mower oil choice

The GC can be a good engine, I'm just saying you can't beat on it for thousands of hours like you can with a GX. Heck, the GX engines even get built up for racing! I was being facetious about the Lucas, lol.

Just remember: no matter what oil you use, add Lucas to prevent dry starts! It will reduce friction for less wear too! Honestly if all my customers used it I would be out of business.

Honda EU2000i and Mower oil choice

I work on Honda GX engines on a weekly basis. Lots of commercial users have them and they run all day every day. I've seen an EU7000 with 8k hours on it that still ran like a top, after a valve adjustment. The GX doesn't care what you feed it. Straight 30, 15W40, 5W30 full synthetic. Just...

    Mercedes 240D

I'll look into new headlights. I like the round eyed look The braided return lines on the injectors look fine, it's the rubber hoses down by the injection pump area that look bad. I'll probably wait till I drop the tank to replace them though. Thanks for the MB manual source! I am leery of...

Will euro-spec headlights for any W123 Benz fit on my car? It does have sealed glass ones on it now, and one of them has condensation in it. Also is changing the oil with Rotella T4 15W40 a good idea? The previous owner said he used full synthetic 5W30 and that sounds waaay too thin to me.

    Mercedes 240D

Is some surface rust really that concerning? I see a lot of old trucks in my area with terrible paint and none of them seem to be rusting. Thankfully there's no rust anywhere else; I climbed all over the rest of the car and knocked at the underside with a hammer, and it was all solid. Would it...

    Mercedes 240D

Just bought it this week. 1981 240D, with a manual! Only 78k miles. I'm a college student and I work part time as small engine mechanic, so I don't have a lot to spend on cars, but I think this will be a keeper! I've been looking for a manual diesel Benz for a while. Comments welcome! Here are...

Critique my purchase: 1962 Dodge Lancer

That is AWESOME!! And I'm just a dumb college student, but I love the styling. So cool. Are we allowed to call cars cute on this forum? In my opinion this looks like a car that needs named

How fussy are you when buying a used vehicle?

Buying crappy cars is one of the brightest elements of my life. I actually have the itch right now, but Craigslist is failing to provide me with something crappy enough. I once bought a 1991 Mercedes 300E for $300. Parked in a field with the windows down, full of rainwater. There was some sort...

    Finesse or brute force?

I'd also say it depends. On tractors, generators, or any old small engine, it's brute force. If I can't break it loose by hand I reach for the Snap-On impact wrench. I might spray some PB or Kroil if it's nearby. But under the hood of something more complex, I'm careful. Especially when there's...

Getting my Chevy 4.3 to 300k

Getting my Chevy 4.3 to 300k

I haven't touched the manifold gaskets. Mine's 2wd so no transfer case. How do you like those Bistein shocks? I've been considering some myself. I'm not exactly sure where my leaks are coming from, but the Maxlife keeps it down to about three or four drips a week. I'm afraid to pressure wash it...

Getting my Chevy 4.3 to 300k

Thanks for the quick replies! I do change the coolant more frequently than called for. Don't want to risk anything with it. I recently changed the clutch fluid, brake fluid, PS fluid, and MTF too. Is 5,000 miles a good OCI for Maxlife in my application? It sounds like Maxlife meets with...
