GM truck steering gears = OEM, Reman, Redhead, Bluetop or something else?

Im in the same boat. I’m budgeting a long weekend, maybe 2 in order to do it right. I just know some of the lower ball joints and bushings are going to require convincing in the form of compressed air and a sledge. I was planning on using the bilstein option, but I’ll look into the rancho. I’m...

GM truck steering gears = OEM, Reman, Redhead, Bluetop or something else?

There is a lot of play/slop in the IFS front end of our 2007 2500 Suburban. I plan on replacing everything up front with at least OEM, and maybe Cognito/Kryptonite products (if they are worth it) (everything: Upper/lower ball joints and bushings, tie rods, center link, idler arm, pitman arm...

    Hellwig Rear Sway Bar

From what I've read there should be some space, less than an inch, between the stops and the axle. I think there is some sag in the leaves on the Suburban. We bought it used a few years ago.

    Hellwig Rear Sway Bar

Just installed a Hellwig rear sway bar on our 2007 2500 Suburban. It has made quite a difference in control. Recently went up a windy and winding mountain road for a snow day and the vehicle felt like it was on rails. It also clears an aftermarket rear differential cover well. Really wish it was...

2007 Suburban 2500 124k Delo XSP 7000 mile OCI UOA

Do you think the o ring lifespan is based on mileage or time? Or heat cycles? I want to get a pulse on when I should expect to do mine as well. While down there, is it worth replacing the pump too? Or stick with OEM. Recently I have noticed it’s been hard to find OEM replacements, even from...

2007 Suburban 2500 124k Delo XSP 7000 mile OCI UOA

Interesting. I’ve seen/read about using 3M Silcone paste (dielectric grease) to create a better seal.

2007 Suburban 2500 124k Delo XSP 7000 mile OCI UOA

I love this engine. No DOD, no AFM, iron block. Should last forever. I see them in UPS delivery trucks that GVWR over 20k. That says something about it’s reliability

2007 Suburban 2500 124k Delo XSP 7000 mile OCI UOA

I’ll look for that next time I’m changing the oil. I should add I changed the air filter after this OCI. It wasn’t in bad shape, looked like an Autozone filter, but I did notice it was pretty stiff. The Wix premium I replaced it with was much more malleable especially at the gasket. Maybe that...

2007 Suburban 2500 124k Delo XSP 7000 mile OCI UOA

Got a UOA done for the family hauler. 70% short tripped during this OCI, mostly summer weather. 95F average outdoor temps with low humidity during the OCI. Mostly less than 3 mile trips, with occasional 30 mile highway drives, and a few 1000 mile round trip drives up I5. Suburban has 4.10 gears...

Got the new truck home and actual payout.

It’s for the massive cooling requirements of a gas engine having a tow rating of 16k. You do realize how bananas that is compared to 20 years ago? You’d have to half that for towing with a gasser 2 decades ago. Even a 7.3 powerstroke f350 from 2000 had a lower towing capacity than these new HD...

    Found the replacement truck.

This puppy ripped up the IKE Gauntlet on TFL. Very nice rig! I'm pretty sure the 2024 is going to have even bigger brakes than your previous rig, the L8T is still all iron block like the old gen ls work truck engines without the DOD or AFM, and you have a 10 speed now thats in the diesel. I like...

Time to put the winter tires on.

Every time I see those JH6 brakes I am still amazed at how much of a monster those calipers are.

toyota 2AR-FE best oil to use in HOT weather?

Don’t forget about your transmission fluid. I have the same vehicle, and have some threads on here regarding how to change the fluid. The fluid is most definitely not lifetime fluid. My buddy has a 2014 rav4 that has never had a trans fluid change. It blew the trans at 160k. Cost him $6,000 to...

2014 Toyota Rav 4 2.5L FWD Transmission Fluid Swap

Recently (well a year ago) i did just that. Turns out this fluid gets hot. Real hot. As in around 300F on a hill climb in southern CA; it was a hot day around 103F, but still should not get that high. 290F is cooking the fluid bad. My scan gauge read around 290F at the top of the hill...
