    Fuel dilution harm and remedies

    1. Fix the cause of fuel dilution? 5% seems very high, certainly out of my limited experience range. 2. Change oil to different brand? 3. Add TC-W3 marine outboard oil to gasoline? This has worked to solve oil consumption problems, maybe it will work for fuel dilution.

    Does conventional oil protect better?

There is enough information in this thread to finally answer the OP’s question. Does conventional oil protect better than synthetic? The answer is no. In every instance I can easily find, the only evidence people present to show that dino oil protects as good or better than synthetic is UOA...

    Does conventional oil protect better?

Both those articles are about comparing wear metal levels from the same machine, and I believe the same oil, and doing trend analysis to determine if there is abnormal wear. They are not talking about changing machines and changing oils and then using wear metal particle counts to determine if...

    Does conventional oil protect better?

Is it not significant that there are no racing groups still using conventional dino oils? In an industry where engine tear downs are part of the routine, EVERYBODY has switched to synthetics based on actual observations of wear in the field. My point is that when we look at engines that wear out...

    Does conventional oil protect better?

When I dealt with auto manufacturers and race engine managers in the past, none of them would accept a wear metal count from an oil analysis as an indicator of wear. In the end, there were some race engine managers that would accept weighing the actual metal left in the oil. Getting the metal...

What's a good belt drive air compressor?

First of all, if you go with more than 2 hp you are going to need a 220V outlet. So a 5 hp 80 gallon unit just isn't going to fly unless you go with 220V. Second, the 2 hp 30 gallon tank is about the biggest unit anybody sells for 110V. Once you start comparing the 2 hp, 30 gallon tank models...

    Does conventional oil protect better?

I hope you guys are talking about low wear high mileage motors,. If you were talking about motors that don't typically last more than 30,000 miles then you would be dead wrong. Synthetics OBVIOUSLY work better than dino oils in things like race engines, hot rodded engines, and dirt bikes. That...

Cryo treatment and barrier coatings? (thermal etc)

I'd think twice about thermally coating the exhaust valve face. That will turn it into a hotspot in the combustion chamber and make the engine more susceptible to detonation or preignition. If you want to lower the valve face temperature, put beryllium copper valve seats in the cylinder head...

    Oil for 69 Mini Cooper

The 1969 Mini Cooper uses a gearbox that shares the oil with the engine. The clutch is completely separate like any normal car. Would it be better to use a motorcycle oil or a car oil for this application? Any oils that might be recommended? Cost is really not an object as the car only gets an...

What coolant for 2006 Porsche Cayman?

Already three different answers. Experience with Porsche products - I tell all my clients to go with the Porsche factory fill. Do not mix coolants in a Porsche. I honestly don't know what they put in there. I just go to the dealer and buy it. Waaaayyyy better than getting it wrong in a mid...
