Just a suggestion, how would this work, use whatever viscosity you like for 3 qts, and then top it off with high detergent dino with a straight #40. I am thinking he would get the protection of the synthetics and possibly the #40 would bypass some of those leaks. WRITE BACK ON THIS.

The higher the octane rating the more resistance it has to explode too early. Meaning if it fires too soon it may fire before the piston reaches it's compression stroke, which will result in an incomplete power stroke. Thus less power, more fuel.

I have an 81 Caprice, V-6, Back in 2000 I blew out the oil sending unit, lost all my oil. Ticking like crazy. I drove 12 miles to my garage and didn't even overheat. Fixed the sending unit, refilled with oil and NO problems since, runs beautifully. I believe Slick 50 does work.
