Yes, that was my reasoning for running 0w40, expecting 4-5% dilution but I did change it out for 5w40 this time to see if it will hold up better to the fuel. I plan on sticking to 10k miles intervals.

I will make some 3-mile round trips a few times a week. Otherwise, lots of highway as I average ~3,500 miles/month.

First report following the oil life monitor, ran a full 10,000 miles

I’ve tried 87, 89 and 93 over the first 5,000 miles or so but didn’t notice any difference. So I’ve settled on 87 over the last 10,000 miles. Plan to switch to 93 once I get it tuned.

Was hoping to follow Ford’s 10k mi intervals, but this fuel dilution has me a little concerned now.

That’s why I wanted to jump a grade and go for 10k mi intervals.

I drained factory fill at 68 miles and replaced with HPL Supercar 0w40. Then changed oil again at 1,469 miles. So between 2 prior oil changes I was hoping to get out all of the Motorcraft 5w30 blend before this UOA.

I dumped the factory fill at 68 miles, then did another oil change at 1,469 miles.

Should I be surprised Viscosity dropped down to 11.6 cSt?

I’m using HPL Supercar 0w40 in my 2025 Explorer with the same 3.0L V6 twin-turbo.
