    Polaris/Horizon Labs Shipping Very High?

So I got some information that was enlightening, to me at least. I called the number for OAI/Amsoil, because their website clearly shows FTIR as the test method for Fuel Dilution %, and not ASTM D7593 (Gas Chromatography). I talked to a Data Analyst, and I asked who he worked for, and he said...

    Polaris/Horizon Labs Shipping Very High?

Sadly, that is ground service pricing. I even called them and they said the rates are correct (I politely disagreed). To be fair, I live in a rural area, so after putting in an urban business address (wife's work), the UPS ground charge went to down to $26. But still way too high. Why won't...

    Polaris/Horizon Labs Shipping Very High?

I was looking at OAI/Amsoil, but the Fuel Dilution % testing method is confusing. It seems to me they are not using GC. See link and screenshot. I am going to contact them directly and get to the bottom of it. https://www.oaitesting.com/services.aspx

    Polaris/Horizon Labs Shipping Very High?

I have a 2011 Honda CR-V that I suspect might be having an issue with Fuel dilution. Here on BITOG, it seems Polaris/Horizon is one of the go-to places for this test, since they use Gas Chromatography. After a lot of hassle trying to sign up online, I was able to call in and get my account...

    VOA Database

OK, I was looking at “Oil Analyzers” which seems to be part of Amsoil and this page shows FTIR: https://www.oaitesting.com/services.aspx I guess I’m confused since you originally mentioned Oil Analyzers (oaitesting.com) and the link you gave is for Horizon (eoilrpeorts.com). I am pretty new...

    VOA Database

Could you point me to the info on Gas Chromatography method with Oil Analyzers? I couldn't find this info on their website. I was interested in Fuel/Oil Dilution, and Oil Analyzers say they use the FTIR method. Thanks, Chris

Generac 5W20 Low Ash (GEO) oil for Generators

Minor correction. Generac seems to be recommending 5W20 in the newer literature vs 5W30 in the older, at least for the air cooled stuff. I haven’t seen 0W20 recommended by them, but I have only seen a few manuals. And they specifically recommend their magic “low ash” blend (at a very high cost).

Generac 5W20 Low Ash (GEO) oil for Generators

I forgot to update this thread. I had the Blackstone test done on the Virgin Generac 5W20, you can see the PDF in this thread: https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/voa-database.360118/page-4#post-6747693 Hopefully that helps you. FYI, all my other Generac generators specified 5W30 for...

    VOA Database

It is intended for Generators, marketed as a "low ash" formula, which supposedly works better with natural gas or propane. The main reason I sent for analysis was to see if anything else in the VOA database might be close enough in formulation to be a suitable replacement, as the Generac oil is...

    VOA Database

Not sure the process, but wondered if someone could update the spreadsheet with the attached VOA of Generac 5W20 oil from Blackstone? Thanks, Chris

    VOA Database

Do you think when Generac says their oil is low ash, do they mean the virgin oil, or used oil? I assumed it meant virgin, but I'm new to understand oils.

If I were to pay for ash on my sample(s), would you be willing to add a column for ash?

    VOA Database

Before I spend money on getting a so-called "Low Ash" Generac 5W20 oil tested, I wondered if the spreadsheet has any columns for Ash? I don't see any labeled as such, but maybe it is under another term. Blackstone told me for $50 more I could get "ash and sulfonated ash" tested, but wanted to...

Generac 5W20 Low Ash (GEO) oil for Generators

Generac claims their oil is a "Low Ash" formula. I am not sure if that means Low Ash in the virgin oil, or Low Ash in the used oil. I am going back and forth with Blackstone Labs, and not sure the support person knows what they are talking about. I know I certainly am a noob. Does anyone know...
