With the healthy amount of Moly and Boron on top of the cleaning power at a very reasonable price point I’ll support that strategy.

We’re assuming just bad metallurgy since the AFM is usually the failure point. I just recommended Motomaster 0w40 as it’s supposed to be a good oil.

I have a coworker that is repairing a newer 5.3 that took out a non-afm lifter camshaft lobe. I recommended he try 0w40, it had always been on 5w30 so we’re kind of surprised what happened.

IMO, it all depends on the vehicle, and some driving style factored in. Our 2017 Ram Cummins - very easy in oil, I’ll go 15,000 miles even with plenty of winter idling. Our 2010 Tiguan, 5-6k miles tops, TFSI is harder on oil and only holds 4.4l or so. 2026 Volvo XC40 - yet to be determined but...

The OP said it has ‘started’ consuming oil. If it had always consumed oil that’s one thing, but if it was me, I would be looking into why.

I haven’t lost one yet, I’ve been shorted from Rotella before - received $25 vs the $35 I was supposed to get.

That’s fairly low mileage, have you had the PCV looked at or thought about trying Valvoline Restore and Protect?
