Thanks I guess the problem is the lack of space as the front drive shaft runs directly under the filter. Though no other filter is listed for the non 4WDR Chevy Avalanche. Clare

YES WE CHECKED THE PLUGS! The plugs are loaded with a black deposit on one side of the ceramic insulator,almost shorting the center electrode to the sidewall--approx 12 to 15 thous of deposit--it can be scraped off fairly easily---wonder what GM will say to this when we send them the pictures...
