I stopped buying wix. They cheapened the filter I use significantly and raised price. I’ve also noticed metal slivers on the tapping plates.

I’ve been running it for years because of the efficiency. I doubt it meets those specs anymore.

I found some pictures I took of the old media… this is a standard wix not an XP. This is it vs a motorcraft 2051s

It’s hard to get a picture of but you can clearly see the cellulose media in person. Used to be a white synthetic wire backed media as shown in the picture above from when I’ve cut one open in the past.

The beta ratio was listed on the wix site. They used a different media for diesels.

I didn’t want to cut it open since I’m going to return it. But you can clearly see the cellulose media and rubber drain back valve. If there’s enough interest I’d eat the $40 and cut it open…

Yes but they use a different media on that and the beta ratio is terrible. The standard wix had a wire backed media and filtered at 99% 18 micron.

Heads up to the guys running Napa/Wix oil filters. Looks like wix decided to cheapen the filter. They no longer have silicone drain back valve or synthetic wire backed media. They also upped the price from $30 to $40. Napa Gold 7151 Wix 57151

I’ve got around 2k miles on a new version 7317. I’ll cut it open when it hits 5k.

News flash… fram makes AMSoil filters.

You should see it after 5k of use in the winter. It collapses on itself.

I think it’s a different media than the XP. This is rated 99% at 18 microns

It is now made by purolator. I was going to run the Donaldson but prefer made in USA. Donaldson is made in Mexico.

I’m sure it’s fine...
