Oil changes won't help since the oil would be practically new coming out, but likely fuel dilution would be an issue. Start-up wear would be the killer and that won't change unless you'd drive further...
You should consider an electric car for that commute. Prime candidate.

Because *TOYOTA's*...
I love my AS3s. I have a 1st gen Mazda 3 with zero rubber in the suspension in the front end (only thing left is sway bar mounts) and they're not loud at all. I'd definitely look into an alignment and have your wheel bearings checked as they can get louder as they die. I'm about 30k into mine...
Use the application guide on Amsoil's site, they'll list specific picks so no guessing on your part:

Basically and actually are not the same thing. Unless you can confirm identical oil galleys, bearing clearances, and oil pump, stick with what's recommended... at least until the warranty is up.

McMaster has 90W gear oil. I can get either "Standard" or Mobilgear 600 XP 150 in 90W.
Just want to make sure I use the right oil for this old trans.
Says NOT to use oils with EP additives.

Reused
They're cheap and it's definitely a while you're in there type of part. And when a pad is well used the spring has to bend farther so it could be saggy and not retracting fully.
It's just cold fluid. My Mazda6 did it when cold on the first shift of the day. After swapping the OE fluid to Amsoil SS at 30k miles it nearly disappeared.
Also a nifty trick to simply avoid the shift shock... start in 2nd.

Mercon V and Mazda M-V are not one in the same
