Bosch Distance Plus For Two Years Two OCI's

I'm getting ready to do my annual oil change on three Chevy Silverados which average approximately 3-4K miles each on average freeway and surface street driving here in Los Angeles. I've been using Bosch Premium oil filters and GC with great used oil analysis reports. I recently purchased Bosch...

    Rough starting 5.3 GM V-8

I've had the same problem for the last three years with my '01 5.3 with 53K on it. Mostly a hard start overnight. I need to cycle the ignition 2-3 times to start. Its just the relief valve stuck open in the fuel pump. The fuel pressure is great but drops to near 0 psi when the engine is shut...

    PureOne vs. Wix

Maybe it's me, but the shell of the Bosch Premium equivalent feels more sturdy than the PureOne.

Site with a bunch of cut open filters

I've been using the Bosch Premium for the last year on my vehicles. They are always in stock at Autozone here in So Cal but at a 50 cent premium to the equivalent PureOne at Pepboys. I'm walking distance to the nearest Az.

    ACDelco PF61 Verified E-Core

IIRC, the older PF61 had no ADBV. Do the newer E-Core PF61's have a ADBV? If so, that would make the newer E-Core PF61 an incarnation of the older discontinued PF59. The PF59 and 61 were virtually the same, except the PF61 without the ADBV. Bowser.

    Amsoil EaA Filter Shelf Life

I've had a EaA123 for about 4 years now. I plan on changing it this winter after my current PureOne A/F has 20K on it. The filter will be about 5 years old by then. I emailed Amsoil's tech support asking the shelf life of these filters and received a very vague answer from Amsoil... "We do...

Got a nail/screw stuck in the tire, leave it in?

If you are the original tire purchaser with road hazard warranty, I'd leave the screw in it until you could get to the tire retailer to fix or replace it. Most retailers will void the tire warranty if you mess with it.

The 5 biggest lies on Wall Street

We were due for a consumer led recession, plain and simple- over consumption from low cost of borrowing from the previous 2001-2002 money bubble/internet/business led recession all of witch brought on cheap money and low interest rates from The Federal Reserve that fueled the housing and credit...

Silverado Needs a Water Pump--GM Techs?

    $55,000

The bottom line is that tax revenues cannot support the level of spending that's currently being proposed by congress and this administration. Pay attention to a federal value-added tax, or VAT legislation, to be proposed by congress sometime this year. This is a clever means to levy a...

Fed puzzled by rising yield curve

The press and media is always looking for the new bogeyman... Just as investors sought a safe haven in US Treasuries during the market melt down last fall, investors are now selling the same treasuries and redistributing the money in other safe assets along with riskier equities. The interest...

    Pure One Color?

Love the grip surface but the metallic blue was a nice touch. A close match to my indigo blue Silverado. The PureOne color change weighed on my psyche when I decided to purchased Bosch Premiums on sale (2/$10) at AutoZone last March.

Best ZDDP Levels For Motor Oil?

My 1990 Chevy Silverado 350 H/O flat tappet engine gets GC (SL rated) with a slug of SX-UP anti-wear additive with plenty of ZDDP. That puts the ZDDP level well over 1000+ ppm. I even used MaxLife Full Syn with a healthy dose of VSOT when it was loaded with zinc a few years ago. Can't find...

    Oil Change hot or cold?

I usually take the vehicle for a spin to get it fully warmed up and lubricated then drain the oil to a slow drip. The new oil filter will catch any thing left in the residual oil.
