Wire was aftermarket that was bad, always seemed to be hard to install on plug. Replaced with OEM,(full set) much easier to install on plugs. Just like you said CAP shorted out (arched).

Found the problem, bad plug wire #3 cylinder.Boot was damaged, Possibly didn't get it pushed down all the way when I changed the plugs.

Having a problem with my '99 4.6l Expy, no check engine light, but hesitation @ 45-50 mph(1500 rpms). Took it to autozone, no codes showed up on scanner. Plugs ,wires and fuel filter all new since fall '03. 90,000 miles, any ideas???? Thanks!

Would it be ok to use 10w-30 in a 4.6l ford modular or stick with 5w-30?? would the 10w-30 slow down the head gasket leak??? thanks, BL
