Rear defrost is not working. Apparently this is disconnected. But the tab that it's supposed to connect to isn't obviously visible. Before tearing into things I just wanted to check to see if anyone knows where the tab would be. Thanks!

Thanks everyone! All helpful input. That's a chunk of change (I think a second opinion would be worth it). That's enough for him to consider waiting until spring. Though he is willing to work on things himself (and I'm willing to assist him).

I have a friend that was told that his compressor and condenser need to be replaced ($3,000!). We checked with a simple gauge and it was in the 'red'.... clutch was not engaging. When a repair is that expensive, we naturally want to doubt the diagnosis. That very well could be the case. But what...

My truck is apparently on its 3rd drain plug... I think this is an attachment from an alternate drain plug. Like this...

The magnet idea is a good idea. I didn't think that of that at first. I wonder if the drain plug was magnetic because whatever it was (metal) was stuck close to the inside.

I think it would be nice to have a drain plug in that situation. I would do somewhat frequent drain and fills in that case without replacing the filter every time. One thing to note is that those do not come with a transmission dipstick.

I was changing the oil in my truck yesterday and noticed something inside the oil pan that I could see through where the drain plug goes. I got a tool to poke around in there and I think I knocked it out of the way. I tried to shine a light in there and I couldn't see it anymore. The only thing...

Update... it appears to be an 4.3 L35... Looks like it still has the spiders. I helped him tear into it a little this evening. Called it a night early since he's gotta get up early for work. It looks as though the mount for the AC Compressor might get in the way a bit. If so, is that too much...
