    AMC Eagle

I remember going around 1980/81 to take a look at the Eagle. It seemed like a nice vehicle and I was in the market for a 4x4. I ended up getting a Brono mainly due to the price. A moderately equipped Eagle was a couple of grand more than a fully loaded Bronco, so I went with the Bronco. I got 22...

    Radiator Stop Leak Recommendation

I currently drive a 2016 Mazda 6, 2006 Crown Victoria, 1999 ZX2 S/R, 2000 ZX2, 1975 Plymouth Gran Fury, 1976 280Z, 2000 Nissan Frontier, and 2011 Ford Ranger. Project cars are 1950 Ford Custom Deluxe Tudor and 1968 Imperial. I can go into the motorcycles I own if you need that information too...

Consumer Carnauba Wax - With No Cleaner Added ?

I like the Collinite line. I've tried a little bit of everything in the last 50 years. Heck, I remember when people had maybe three car waxes to choose from. Simoniz, Johnson's, and Turtle Wax. Simoniz always had the best stuff back then, especially their two step Kleener polish and Simoniz...

Need quality clutch master and/or slave cylinder

TallPaul, I've had the best luck with the absolute cheapest Slave and Master you can get for a Ranger, the Brute Power line at Rockauto.com. Got tired of the "good stuff" going out every 20k miles so I took a gamble and went with the cheapest Rockauto parts I could get, and surprisingly I'm on...

How I miss the the old days....

What I miss is the wide-open cockpit of years past. While the bench seats weren't the most convenient of all time, the best configuration was the 60/40 split bench and I think I had two of the last cars to have that (Buicks and Crown Vic). I hate center consoles. I miss big cars. I miss wide...

    Radiator Stop Leak Recommendation

So, the head gasket issues that have plagued Subaru since the late 80s up until today are all a myth? Or is replacing the engine every 100k miles considered normal maintenance? Not trying to start a flame war, just curious. I don't consider any of the modular V6 GM cars to be reliable for the...

Consumer Carnauba Wax - With No Cleaner Added ?

Collinite 915. No need for anything else.

    Ranger door handle

You would probably have the best luck going through a Mazda dealer. They keep aftermarket parts much longer than their Ford counterparts. That's basically my only good source for NOS products on obsolete shared Ford/Mazda platforms.

    Quadrasteer coming back?

Four Wheel Steering instantly gives me a headache. I imported an Autozam Clef from New Zealand close to twenty years ago. Think of a larger Escort ZX2. Impossible to get the 4WS worked on. Sold it at a loss. While we're talking about bringing back other failed GM "quad" projects from the past...

    PRNDL on its way out?

This thread brings back memories. I remember my dad's 56 Packard's push-button layout. Our driveway was on a steep hill, and you couldn't get the thing out of neutral and into reverse or drive because of some sort of vacuum tube monstrosity. You would have to take the parking brake off and...

Way ahead of you on that. I still think of a Suburu as a "disposable" car.

Higher octane than recommended a waste?

It depends entirely on your vehicle. If your knock sensor advances or retards timing based on the fuel, then yes, you'll see better performance running premium fuel. What's ignorant on both sides of the debate is when one person issues a blanket statement as if there's only one type of car...

If it's the original Carter carb replace it now with a Holley and be happy later.

    Radiator Stop Leak Recommendation

Bar's Leak powder is essentially the same thing as the GM cooling system tabs. Don't use too much and make sure you run it nice and hot after you put it in so it gets a chance to bond to the innards. I've had Saturns, Cadillacs and Buicks that required the seal tabs and personally I find it...

Need to soften interior leather that has hardened

Just a note concerning Nissan/Infiniti leather. There's two different grades of leather used in the early aught models. There's the premium "supple" type and the "sport" leather option. They're very different in texture. The "sport" leather is a cheaper grade though they look identical. It's...
