    Solid ROLLER lifter oil

THANK YOU! Excellent information there. I'll just anticipate pulling the intake every other season to check the rollers. I'm probably going to stick with dino 10w40 or the bulk Delo 1300 15w40 I get at work. Quick question... What's with Mopar guys and dirt roads? Kidding, thanks for the info!

DavidJones, thats a nice looking setup! I spent a good while detailing my compartment, but I still have a bit of a mess with wires.

You aren't kidding! I expected some pushback though, its always good to hear others input.

    Real world example.

My point is that regular oil changes matter more than oil brand. I've been inside thousands of engines, this one in particular is a family members, so I'm the only person to ever service it. Its a true, real world snapshot of the inside of a engine that I know for fact has been serviced with...

    Real world example.

2010 Denali oil pan, 6.2 aluminum block, 153309 miles. Suburban Chicago driven. I’ve been changing the oil since it had 15k, using whatever $2/qt bulk oil we carry. At one point it was Valvoline 5w30, later Mobil Dexos 5w30. 5k intervals. This is why I’m not brand loyal.

    Air compressor storage question.

I have never given my compressors special treatment. I have a 120 gallon Champion in my garage that I close the tank valve on. I have leaky hard pipes and I don't want it to kick on at all hours of the night. It always has 150psi in it, ready to go.

Is there any practical benefit to letting a passenger car oil warm up before driving?

Is there any practical benefit to letting a passenger car oil warm up before driving? In a late model engine, yes. The manufacturer wont tell you that because by the time issues show up it will be out of warranty. I also don't trust the oil life indicators for the same reason.

Yeah. BBCs have terrible valvetrain geometry. My shortblock has flattops, so my compression ratio was limited by head choice. He got me a set of Edelbrock 100cc ovals. They were milled a bit more strait out of the box to get a static compression ratio of 9.0-1, I forgot to mention, it fits under...

BBCs are done at 6000 with hydraulic rollers. The goal was 600ish HP. To get that with lower duration, you need lift. I didn't put this combination together on my own. I had it built by a reputable builder. Before anyone asks, yes I did ask them about oil. The recommendation was any 10W40 of...

Go ahead and find me a hydraulic roller that will match the performance of the cam I have. It makes 14 in of vacuum at idle (800rpm) has a 2500 stall converter, and has run 11.0 in bad air with 3.73 gears. Let me clarify the purpose of using a solid roller in my application. My engine was...

Nailed EXACTLY why I joined this forum to ask! My car sees frequent street use, and I want to give the lifters the best chance of survival. Hind sight, I wish I'd gone with the Isky bushed lifters. Twice the price, but worth it? Idk.

69 SS 396. Its future owner behind the wheel. I pulled the original engine in favor of the stroked 454 that's in it now.
