    QSUD vs M1 Extended performance

Menards has Quaker State UD on sale plus their 11% rebate. How does this compare to M1 Extended performance? During the winter we put about 6500 miles on our 3.5L Explorer, my fall oil change I have been using M1 EP. During the summer we only put 3500 on the EX but we live elsewhere in the...

Honda to discontinue lawn mowers September 2023

That is too bad, I have a Honda HRS21 from the mid 80's my dad bought used from a friend that was moving into a condo. I use it just for trimming around trees and a drainage ditch across the front of our yard that is too narrow for the deck of my JD X350. The Honda starts first pull every time...

    2023 VW Jetta

The Jetta looks great but in all honesty if a Toyota or Honda would have been avaialbe he probably would have purchased that. Toyota said three to six months, Hyundai was adding $3000 market adjustment, VW was MSRP.

    2023 VW Jetta

My point was we have been exclusively GM, Ford, Chrysler purchaser's, have never had an Asian or Euro vehicle in the family.

    2023 VW Jetta

I know the owners manual is going to tell me that Thanks, that is exactly the kind of information I was looking for. I knew that Euros had some specific requirements and by clarifying the VW508.00 which I know nothing about makes it a lot easier. Some mentioned the dealer oil changes, not an...

    2023 VW Jetta

First time anyone in the family has purchased an "import", I am the family mechanic. My older son just bought a 2023 VW Jetta 1.5T Sport, 1.5liter DOHC TSI turbo. Any recommendations about oil? Looks like he gets free maintenance for 30,000 miles. My guess is I will want to change oil in between...

    Defective Wix filter

Was changing oil is our son's Moomba ski boat, Indmar GM engine, Wix 51069 oil filter.. Could not get the old filter off to save our lives. Tried eveything in the book and finally after shredding the canister we were able to get a hold of the very top of the filter right near the upper plate and...

    Model PDS: thanks Sinclair

Sinclair was purchased by Arco in 1969 and was required to divest certain assets for anti trust reasons. Sinclair stations East of the Mississippi became ARCO stations with a few exceptions. In 1976 ARCO sold assets in the West to Earl Holding which included two refineries and use of the...

Breaking in a '16 Focus ST 2.0l Turbo

The whole "break in" thing IMO is blown way out of proportion. Today's engines are built to much closer tolerances and to think that they leave "gunk" in the block makes no sense. It has also been suggested to change the filter at low mileage as it may be plugged from the "gunk". A new engine...

Any Oil for the 5000 OCI

While I read various posts on BITOG I think we need to realize that the improvement in oil is only a portion of why extended oil change intervals are acceptable. Today's engines are so much better than even 15 years ago. The five, six and more speed transmission allow engines to literally loaf...

    canister filters

Does anyone make a premium cartridge filter? I have been using the standard Wix in our 2012 Grand Caravan with the 3.6 liter engine. I like Wix but they do not have it available in their XP, synthetic media line. I also don't see it available in Fram Ultra or the new Purolater with synthetic media.
