No, the odometer doesn't work when the speedo goes out. Never sat out in hot summer sun for long periods of time without use. 140K miles He's tried banging on dash- made no difference. We'll check the sensor connection. Are these clusters hard to get out?

My step-son has a '98 Cavalier with an erratic speedometer. It goes dead (to zero) for a few seconds, is fine then dead again off and on. Does this sound like the sensor or something else? Manual transmission, 140k miles.

Have been looking at new door openers and noticed the higher end Genie's have DC motors instead of AC. What's the real world advantage of DC over AC in this application? Will be on a standard insulated residential 16' door.

Have a broken glass on drivers side exterior mirror on '95 Lumina. Any tips, advice on replacing this? Does the glass attach with adhesive or some other method? Can internals be removed from mirror? Thanks

Based upon all this input sounds like I'd better pursue ceramic. More money but probably worth it for less dust. Thanks for all the advice.

Thanks for the quick replies. Constant brake dust drives me nuts. Any down-falls with the ceramic other than higher price?

I had the pads changed on my car four months ago and they seem to dust the wheels more than the previous pads did. Liking to keep things clean I'm wondering if there are any low-dust pads availble. Anybody know of any pads that give less dust? '95 Lumina
