When I last looked in to it, from looking at the assorted MSDS and spec sheets, I concluded that Supertech Full Synthetic 75W-90 was most likely identical to MAG1. However, that was a while ago.

And can you explain the room temperature thing?
What on Earth do you think the 'W' stands for? You should delete all 7000+ of your posts here and stop using the internet.
You've got roughly 20 year old oil there. SH was top dog from 93-96 according to: http://www.pqiamerica.com/devilsindisguise.htm
I'd have no problem using it in yard equipment and the like, or as top up oil if you any consumption. I probably wouldn't put it in my 2013 sedan, but if I really...
No argument here on the 15W-40 comparison, but I think the 5W-30 video is fairly misleading.

The Mobil 1 definitely had a bit of a sulfur smell to it (in fact Mobil says right on their website that it contains a sulfur-phosphorous additive package). I'm certainly not concerned with the Mobil 1 for the time being, but once we decide on a suitable alternative, I'll suggest that he change...
OK, reading through that seems to answer the question. The 75W-90 Mobil 1 should be fine for now, and I'll tell him there is no rush to change it. For any other people interested, the best info was in this thread mentioned in the previously mentioned thread (confusing enough for you)...
A friend of mine just got a new Ariens 5520E Snowblower for the season, and I gave him a hand getting it set up. While running through the manufacturer's checklist prior to the first run, I noticed that the auger's aluminum gearcase was dry as a bone.
The manual calls for using Ariens L2 gear...
