    Need help understanding torx types

I've always wondered if we really needed a torx plus, I mean is there a torx that didn't hold well?

HF Hercules 3/8 compact impact Question

I know it can be a hassle, but when you've used one that doesn't hold well, that's a real hassle. Maybe it's a bit too strong, and needs some tweaking, but I'd be pretty happy if my DeWalt held that well.

My Klutz Moment - 75:1 Mix For Husqvarna 550XP

Well, don't feel bad. I was at a flea market years ago and bought some Amsoil 100:1. Went home and mixed it up for my Lawnboy. Started mowing and after about 15-20 minutes it locked up. I let it cool and it did the same thing again, duh! I had mixed it 200:1. Amazingly the Lawnboy survived, and...

    0w20 in a JD F510 with Kawasaki PA540V 17 hp ?

In over 55 years of using OPE, and rebuilding lots of engines, I have yet to see an engine destroyed by oil viscosity. You could almost run water in a B&S and it would survive. Use a decent oil in whatever vis your temps indicate and worry not.

    Consensus on battery powered OPE

I was a complete "againster" when it came to electric. Then when started mowing a LOT of ground around the house, it became a chore to keep everything maintained. Soooo, on a whim, I went to HD with the intent to buy a new Ego mower. I ended up buying a returned Ryobi mower. That was almost 4...

How Old Is Your Lawn Mower(s)?? And How Many Hours Approximately?

My JD 425 is 23-24 years old, I think it was a 2001. With 915hrs on the clock it still runs like a champ. I bought it used many years ago. I changed the carb, replaced the fuel stop solenoid, put on rougher tires, and years later I replaced a lower radiator hose and all the plastic hood and...

Harbor Freight... American Made, Lifetime Warranty

I've gotten too old to try and determine where everything I buy is made. I'd love to have American Made on everything, but it's just not happening. Our government has taken us this direction, and we didn't complain enough, so we're stuck. HF tools are getting better all the time, regardless of...

    Floor jack lowers too quickly

I replaced my old leaker with a HF aluminum low profile jack and it's a gem so far.

    Screwdriver tips (pun intended)

I find that the four most used screwdrivers for me are two phillips and two slotted of different lengths. So I bought four PB Swiss screwdrivers and for all the rest, I don't use them enough to try to find other alternatives, just use til worn and buy another. I have yet to destroy a PB Swiss...

    Inexpensive, fairly good DMMs?

I've worked with meters almost everyday for more years than I like to admit to. What do I use? I like Klein meters as the best bang for the buck. I use a clamp meter everyday and Klein makes good ones if you go to the higher end ones. They cost around a $100+, so they're not outrageous. Their...

What triggered you to align with a certain manufacturer for your cordless tools?

I've never been a fan of DeWalt, but this just ices the cake, no DW tools for me. I have owned them all, Makita, Milwaukee, Ryobi, Bauer, Hercules, Skill, and more, still have most of them, except DW and Milwaukee, as I gave all my Milwaukee to my partner when we switched to Flex for our...

    Are they doomed?

The Linux advice is good. As a lifelong user of every version of Windows, for work and play, and doing lots of development work at my job, writing logic for software, I came to hate Windows. Lots of reasons for that, but mostly that trying to do things was so complicated, since the system was...
