    '08 Volvo XC70 D5 AWD

Unfortunately, this is the final post about the XC70. I booked the car in last week for it's annual inspection with a plan to put the car up for sale. The car obviously knew what was coming so had a tantrum and popped on the ABS light. Scanned the codes and it seemed to be an issue with the...

    BMW i4 M-Sport eDrive40

You may be right. Here we have the choice of the Hi-Fi system, Harmon Kardon or B&O. I always find the standard systems we get over here quite poor, so some sort of upgrade was required. Interestingly, my old 2020 5 series had a H&K system, but could be programmed as a B&O. Seemed the hardware...

    BMW i4 M-Sport eDrive40

And after... All in all, super happy with my decision. Great to look at and even better to drive! I'm already worrying about what on earth I'm going to replace it with. What on earth could top this?

    BMW i4 M-Sport eDrive40

Back last year I posted a thread about not knowing what car to order. Well, I ended up ordering a BMW i4, and I'm so glad I did! I ended up with a 2026 BMW i4 M-Sport eDrive40 in fire red with cognac leather and a few choice options. Those options being the BMW Hi-Fi sound system, adaptive...

AC Compressor Clutch Repair - JB Weld?

Our Volvo XC70 currently has no air conditioning. At some point in it's previous life the AC clutch bearing failed and the resulting wobble meant it contacted the magnet behind and spun it. This wore through the centre shaft of the compressor meaning the gap where the circlip that holds onto the...

Bled the brakes before a pad slap?

I usually clamp the hose, open the nipple and then push the piston back.

    drained engine oil is red.

My Wife had a 2014 Polo with a 1.2 3 cylinder petrol engine that always turned the oil red.

2023 Polestar 2 Long Range Single Motor

My Polestar 2 goes today, to be replaced by a long awaited BMW i4, so figured it was time to do a write up. I was offered this as an interim company car back in December, taking delivery on January 5th with 60,011miles on the clock. It belonged to someone who had recently left the company which...

    2007 VW Transporter 2.5TDi 4motion

Much progress made. I applied the paint as if it was a coach enamel. Manufacturers data sheets say 2:1 paint to hardener, I dropped this down to 3:1 hoping to lengthen the drying time a little. Honestly, I wish I went to 4:1 as I feel like it could have done with longer in order to 'self level'...

    2027 VW ID Polo

I'm just so glad they ditched the stupid haptics/touch buttons. It was the thing I hated most about my Cupra Born (basically a VW ID.3). Cars shouldn't have touch buttons or screens for basic and essential controls.

    2007 VW Transporter 2.5TDi 4motion

Progress has been slow. I always forget that wind exists. We've had a very dry month, but we've also had a windy month. I used some Norton Blaze discs to remove all signs of bright orange, loose and flaky corrosion around the windscreen arpeture. I also managed to find some full-van bags...

New (to me) car! '06 Jetta TDI

Shocked I've not seen this thread before! The Jetta was called the Bora over here. Up until a few years ago, manual Golfs & Boras with PD engines were EVERYWHERE. They've dwindled off though, like everything from pre-2010. I'm still convinced that cars released from the mid 90's to mid 00's...

    2007 VW Transporter 2.5TDi 4motion

May have bitten off a little more than I can chew removing the windscreen. People on YouTube certainly made it look far easier than it was! I used this tool that looks like a giant form of birth control to push the stainless wire through the existing bonding material. And then added a handle...

    2007 VW Transporter 2.5TDi 4motion

So little change of plan. I was hoping to service the back end (ooo errr) this weekend with new bushes, shocks and fluids. However, vans had other plans. It's a common issue on the T5, that a small amount of rust builds under the windscreen and causes it to 'de-bond' in the top corners...

I'm thinking of taking the plunge on a new BMW i3

Im currently waiting for a brand new i4 40 to be delivered next month. I want to like the new i3, but that 4 spoke steering wheel is gash.
