My 340i's oil cap is blank, and I've fed it:
BMW TPT 0w-20
Liqui Moly TT6600 0w-20
Pennzoil Euro 5w-40
Motul XClean+ 5w-30
M1 ESP 5w-30
Nothing has come up on the infotainment about its brand preference yet!
All, I ordered some M1 5w-30 ESP for my B58 340i from Autozone.
I like using their M1 special so I can get the wife's Honda M1 EP filter included.
Looks like they gave me a 5qt of the new formula C3 SP LL-04 and two quarts of the older C2/C3 SN stuff.
Is this worth exchanging, or should I...
Low SAPS is currently spec'd by every Euro car manufacturer from Alfa Romeo to Porsche, I don't see any lingering reason to use LL01 in your 2013+ petrol powered BMW unless you're tuned and tracking - or if the fuel quality in your area is poor.
Right, meant more in terms of low(er) quality fuel in combination with a tune that would affect fueling/timing.
Lower Saps seems like a better choice overall given the current ULSG standard and comparative qualities of VW502/LL-01 vs VW504/LL-04/17/22
Is there any reason to not use mid/low SAPS oil in the Bx8 family?
LL-01 seems better if you're tuned and are concerned about fuel dilution or something, but otherwise I'd think LL-04 is the way to go in any case.
Castrol 0w-30 seems like a better option if you're in the E90/pre-LCI F30 era.
On a positive note, my brake pads arrived damaged by UPS.
I was able to contact FCP and they sent a new set via 2-day air and didn't even want the old ones back.
Gotta say, ATE needs better packaging for their brake pads. They really high quality, but the shims and pads bounce around happily...
Nice, though does that jectron cleaner actually do anything?
I'm under the impression that using top tier fuel is the same difference, like Shell or Exxon.
Also maybe want to remove your personal information?
You're most probably due for new shocks/struts on that Audi by now.
There's your $500 use case for store credit.
I don't quite get why 0% return on Amazon purchases (risk of counterfeit), Autozone, etc. is better than working with FCPEuro?
Don't those prices also go up every year?
Even if you...
Yeah, would like VW 504 and MB229.52 specs though.
LL-04 is probably preferred for the B58, as it's lower SAPS and better efficiency in some respects.
Also could lead to lower intake valve deposits.
Bother offer the same thickness/protection levels in normal circumstances.
LL-01 is the way...
This also seems like an interesting option: https://www.amazon.com/Castrol-5W-30-Advanced-Synthetic-Quarts/dp/B084TCS8FC/
Although the pricing isn't that great for the 7qts needed.
M1 5w-30 ESP seems like the good economic choice for LL-04 / MB229.52 / VW504 oils at $34/5qts
