Thanks for the warm Texan Welcome!
Funny you mention Benbrook, I'm actually clerking at a clinic there right now for the next few weeks. $25 for 5 quarts of M1 0W40? They are giving it away!
Thanks to you three for your replies.
I ask because on my previous car, a BMW 1999 e46, I had to go from the GC 0W30 in the winter to 5W40 Motul in the summer time, while the BMW 1995 e38 would alternate between the Castrol 5W50 in the winter to Motul's 15W50.
Have a great day!
Hi,
It's been a few years since I last visited the site and posted. I recently picked up a MB C350 4Matic 2013 in Quebec. Service was done at the time of purchase. I now moved to Fort Worth, TX to finish my medical studies.
Question is this: do I have to adjust or replace engine, transmission...
Being a fellow BMW driver (e38 and e46), I find that it is my duty to point you in the direction of Motul oils.
Doing the regular filter change every 5000km, and topping up the oil, let me tell you that the Motul stays perfectly clear up to 15,000km.
I'm sure it'll go past 15,000 km, but given...
Hi,
It's that time again where I have to flush out my coolant, and decided to go the Motul route.
Now all I know about the OEM BMW fluid is that it is Phosphate free and it's blue-ish in colour.
Here's my dilema:
Motul Inugel Expert Ultra (Blue) is BMW N600 69.0 approved and is Phosphate...
I must be missing something because I still don't see why ATF needs to be mixed with Xylene when added to gasoline.
Is Xylene so abbrasive that ATF is used as a cylinder lubricant?
I was reading on another forum about the use of Xylene as an octane booster.
What I found peculiar was the mention of adding 1 ounce of Tranny fluid per Gallon of Xylene/Gas mixture because Xylene is 'too dry.'
I asked why the use of Tranny fluid, and which compound in the fluid is the...
I'm glad that some of my sanity is returning.
Firstly, I thought Motul's 0W20 was A3 rated.
Montreal winters get very cold. -35C is not unheard of, it's actually quite comon.
Most of my driving is either home to university where the car is parked outside, clubbing where the car is once again...
Guys,
I think I've hit rock bottom, and need (as pscholte so eloquently said) "good counselling."
Little bio on the car in question, it's a 1999 BMW 328i. So that makes it an I6.
Manufacturer requires A3 rated oil. Thus far I've been using the elixir of life during the winter time (GC) and...
I don't get it because i've noticed an increase in gas mileage with GC.
However, I am considering Motul's 0W20 for this winter. (hopefully it'll pass, and i'll stick with GC).
Titanium:
Thank you for your feedback. I personally was leaning towards 5.1, but am not knowledgeable enough with respects to brake fluids to pick one over the other (with total confidence).
And I agree, Motul products are very expensive. 5.1 is roughly $14/L (CDN), and their 5W40 (which I am...
Hey guys,
I noticed that my current brake fluid (BMW DOT4) is pitch black after only one year of use. I was discussing with some friends about sticking to OEM or looking at other options and was recommended Motul.
However it's a 50/50 split between RBF600 and 5.1
Do I track my car? No, but I...
Outrun:
Those Organic I chair, boat, twistboat conformations are a PITA.
Hopefully next semester when I take Quantum Theory i'll be able to answer this photon question.
