I lived in W Virginia in 1963 when daylight savings time was yes or no county by county. Really messed up! You had to know what county your September high school away game was in to show up on time. I missed a movie or store visit because of a county line crossing in my summer there.

But you save that one quart bottle and refill it for pouring? or you keep buying quart bottles of oil?

10 days vacation used between two weekends is 14 days off. I know only ten are paid but that is a pretty good vacation for a new hire.

Valvoline VR-1 10W-30 isn’t a “limited detergent oil”. It is SM or SP certified and suitable for manufactures oil change intervals in cars of the OP’s vintage.

Plenty of YOU-TUBE addicts change their own oil. Manuals, books etc not a habit for them. Info they receive is all over the place.

Many manuals put both the TOTAL OIL CAPACITY (new or rebuilt dry engine) and the oil amount required for oil and filter change. But how many drivers bother to read that manual now. The fact that with the manual they also include a 3 page “quick start” comic book gives you a clue.

My wife’s Subaru dealership always overfills on an oil change and other dealers do it too. I think it is some kind of “insurance” as many drivers don’t routinely check oil levels these days

You had a cartridge case head rupture. A case head separation is from old stretched brass that pulls apart during extraction leaving the forward part of the case inthe chamber. It is an important difference as a head separation does not occur under pressure and the “load” isn’t a factor other...
