Because I haven't tried any M1 before and was recommended it extensively here haha and the MBWorld forum guys sing the praises of Liqui Moly Cera Tec for the M157 engine. So, $75 down the hole for an experiment is worth it for me. I'll be doing some roll racing, drag racing, and a little ~200...
Thank you. I'm going to do a short 500 mile service interval myself with Mobil 1 FS Euro 5W40 ($24/5QT at local Walmart currently) and some Liqui Moly additives while I wait for whatever I order from HPL to ship and come in after Christmas. Do a 24 hr drain then fill with the HPL.
Thanks...
That is indeed very helpful! Thank you. Also, love to see a GTI VR6 still being cared for at 206K.
Agreed on batch variance. I used the virgin oil left over from what I had put in, so that's the controlling factor of my comparison and of course, statistically you need at least 20 samples to be...
I had a Viscometer at my workplace. Checked virgin vs used sample. Both allowed to come-up/come-down to room temp before measuring. I wish I had my results still, but I wasn't impressed, especially compared to the Mobil 1 Full Synthetic used oil analysis I saw on this forum. Maybe it's me and my...
Thanks for the input on lowering the interval. Most people I've told my interval to call me crazy. But, I'd rather buy oil than a new engine for any of my vehicles.

I don't mind paying more if the product quality warrants it. I have look through many threads and your mention of Redline brought up the Redline vs Amsoil vs HPL vs Motul I've seen on some threads. Between the non-229.5 certified "boutique" oils, do you have a preference that you'd recommend for...
I'm just not impressed with the LM, not to say it's bad and I used it in my Volvo S60 religiously. But, if there is a higher quality that will quiet it down and not thin out as quickly, I don't mind paying for the quality.
These are all good for the more taxing use cases as well? I'm not...
Hi everyone, long time lurker here. I have been less than satisfied with the oils I have had in my (relatively) new to me E63. I have done one oil change so far and am coming up on the 3500 mile mark that I like to change at and need recommendations.
Car came to me with oil change at dealer...
