    Stocking Up On Motor Oil

Depending on your choice of oil, there are still some places that haven't raised the prices (yet) and some sales. I think others have mentioned Castrol(Amazon/Walmart), Menards (quaker state), and Meijer VRP sale. In full disclosure l picked up 2-5 quart jugs of VRP today for $28.99 each. I was...

    April lubricants industry market update.

I apologize if you already mentioned this but is your opinion that prices will drop to a more reasonable level or be at higher equilibrium in Q1 of 2028?

DIY Automotive A/C Repair: Is It Worth It?

This exact scenario happened to me. 2 shops said l just had to replace my compressor... Nope. After $600 for 2 recharges and a new compressor, l found out the whole system needed a flush and new... Everything.

DIY Automotive A/C Repair: Is It Worth It?

I'm sure it has already been said but you could always have a shop evacuate the system then flush the lines and replace everything yourself. Then have them add the refrigerant.

(Quixotic) Quest in 2026 for a Reliable Beater for a Decent Price

I just looked at a 2008 hhr with 155k miles. The listing said "slight" damage to passenger door. They said the AC worked (it didn't) and the "slight" damage went across both passenger doors. It had a check engine light on too. It actually ran pretty good. If it didn't have so much rust in the...

(Quixotic) Quest in 2026 for a Reliable Beater for a Decent Price

I appreciate the recommendations. I don't think l have been giving enough cars a chance based on the posting descriptions. I was looking at Impalas because l have read the 3.5 is actually a decent motor and there are a lot of them. I wasn't considering the Jettas but apparently l should and l...

    FCS struts from Rock Auto?

As of now it is only when turning. I completely agree. Given the price, l was pretty impressed. And they still are functioning (no bouncing and leaks witnessed).

    FCS struts from Rock Auto?

I have had FCS quick struts installed about 5 or so years ago on my accord. About 70k miles on them. They started making noises about 2 years but they are still functioning.

I appreciate that. How far did you have to travel to find the Armada?

(Quixotic) Quest in 2026 for a Reliable Beater for a Decent Price

In that case l would agree but l think @CKN has seen my other posts and gets a sense of my aspirations.

(Quixotic) Quest in 2026 for a Reliable Beater for a Decent Price

I just went to look at a 2010 Impala (3.5 L) with 123k on the clock. Lots of dents on the hood and a big dent on back seat door. It was a kid in his early 20s by my guesstimate. He was asking $3750. He said the car has a 6k oci... I think he was fudging it based on buildup around the oil fill...

    When to Change Motor Mounts

Excessive idling is tough for me to say. The aftermarket radio rattles and the license plate holder rattles very annoyingly but not bone jarring.
