0W-20 Oil Preference: Toyota / Lexus

Of your list, I’d go with the M1 EP. However, if you’re going to change it at 5k just save a few bucks and get the regular AFE version. You should also consider Havoline 0w20 from Walmart. It’s comes in 6 quart boxes and is a great value compared to other name brands. At 5k it would work very...

    Ow20 or 5w30

Depends if you’re buying it after the lease. If you are, I’d change it early. If not, wait for the olm and use the cheapest stuff you can that’s within spec. If I was going to buy I’d be using 5w30 with what I’ve read about those Pentastars.

    Frakenbrew for a 2007 F350 5.4L 3V 182k miles

I ran primary Pennzoil Platinum in my 08 F150 that had the 5.4L. I used both 5w20 and 5w30 at different times, and it obviously ran great with either of them. Personally I’d stick with 5w30 with your heavier duty use, but I’d stretch the intervals out. At minimum 5k if you’re going to use synthetic.

Will a syn blend cause the problems a full syn will on an old conv only engine?

I’d be running a High-Mileage oil if that were my car. Most, like Valvoline MaxLife, are blends anyway. The HM oils may help reduce the chances of a leak after switching oils.

2011 toyota avalon 3.5 synthetic oil interval

I’d stick with the Toyota filters. That’s what I’ve been using in both my Tundra and our Sienna. My Sienna has seen mostly 0w20 M1 AFE at 10k intervals and still runs as good as new at 110k. I see no reason to fix what’s not broken. With the oils you’ve suggested, your plan of 7,500-8000 miles...

    2017 crv using oil.

We had a port injection 2.4 in my wife’s old 2011 Accord. That was a great engine and I don’t remember ever having to add oil. I used M1 AFE 0w20 and changed when the maintenance minder said so, which was around 10k miles. Unless that CRV has a ton of miles, has been neglected, or has atypical...

Since PYB is basically gone now..

Valvoline MaxLife 10w30 was the first thing that came to mind for your situation. Also consider Pennzoil HM.

    Toyota Tundra OCI

On one of the Tundra forums there is a thread with a Tundra owner with over a MILLION miles on his 5.7 Tundra. He said he used M1 5w20 at 10k intervals. Hard to argue against that. That said, the 5.7 is a great engine and I honestly think you will be fine on any quality synthetic from 0w20 to...

3.5 EcoBoost M1 EP vs M1 ESP vs Rotella Gas Truck

I’d be happy with the M1 EP 5w30. My father in law has been using regular M1 5w30 in his 2018 3.5EB at 5k intervals since new and it’s been working great. If you’re going to stick with 5k intervals, I’d consider just using that in the future.

Toyota/Lexus 3UZ-FE V8 new oil turned black Immediately after starting engine once.

I’d stick with the Mobil 1 5w30, and shorten your internals to 10k miles at most. Maybe drop it to 7500 miles for a few changes to flush out any potential deposits. Who knows what the dealer was actually putting in your engine.

    Best 6.7 Powerstroke Oil

We’ve used primarily T6 5w40, and occasionally T5 10w30, in both our 2012 and 2020 Ford 6.7’s. No problem with either one and both trucks are changed when the OLM triggers. Neither have been deleted.

Changing Viscosity--Help Me Choose an Oil

My wife really wants a new Ford Bronco, but I’m really trying to talk her into a 4Runner. For what new vehicles cost, I feel that they should last longer and hold their value better than most of them do. I guess this is why I’m a fan of Toyota and Lexus vehicles in general, and the Tundra...

Changing Viscosity--Help Me Choose an Oil

That’s exactly why I bought my 2020 Tundra. No turbos, direct injection, or cylinder deactivation. They run forever if you take care of them. One of the million mile Tundras was supposedly run on 5w20 M1 at 10k intervals since new. No consumption issues. Hard to argue against using that.

Getting my Chevy 4.3 to 300k

I used 5w30 Valvoline Maxlife in my S10 ZR2 with the 4.3. It ran smooth as could be with no leaks or consumption when I sold it around 180k. I’d stick with the MaxLife if I were you.
