I'm sure it just went round, but I don't remember the specifics. It was probably around 1989 or 90. We only had the cam replaced, and I have to imagine there would be all sorts of other damage if the cam actually broke.
Sure, but that's only for new construction for the last several years. This is why I highly recommend hiring a licensed electrician who can advise you on how practical/expensive it would be to bring grounding up to current code on an older home.
If you have an older home that predated that...
I don't have much faith in whole house surge protectors, I think they're kind of snake oil. Lightning will take the shortest path to ground--whether that's through your home and equipment, and then out through your AC panel ground, or through grounds placed outside your home.
I added two ground...
I had a 1998 Honda CBR900RR that bought new, and used as a daily driver during the summer here in Alaska. I flogged that thing, and even raced it a couple of times, getting it up to 165 mph at one point.
I only ever used the same Chevron Delo 400 15w-40 oil that I used in my Dodge diesel truck...
That's interesting--when I was a kid, our family's 1980 Chevy Impala had a 305 where the camshaft busted at one point.
What was the typical cause of this? The mechanic we used at the time couldn't really point to a specific cause.
I had maintained that engine meticulously in shop class, and we...
It doesn't come apart at all. I have a TP bypass filter (Motorguard) in the coolant system on my truck, and it just works.
I think that we tend not to see any before/after comparisons regarding the effectiveness of bypass filters because very few run a baseline analysis on their oil. I know I...
I really like having the return line for my bypass filter in the filler cap. It makes taking oil samples really easy, and I can also easily see the flow rate, which gives me an idea of how loaded the filter is getting.
I wouldn't use it. I have to think it would just gum up an action over time.
I've used it on nice wood stocks to help prevent water damage, and on external parts of rifle actions while I had the stocks off, but I wouldn't use it on internals of any gun.
Dielectric grease will definitely not cause a short like you describe.
You might check the sockets/connectors that the bulbs fit into. I've seen the wires work their way out the back end of the connector over many years of an owner repeatedly pulling on the wires instead of pulling on the...
Unfortunately in my experience BITOG is probably one of the more hostile forums I frequent, and has been for many years. I have no interest in forums where the members are mostly jerks, although I have no doubt they exist.
I think the majority of people on here are polite and act just as they...
70 mph for about 120 miles in a 1992 Dodge W250 diesel with an np205 transfer case. Road surface was dry asphalt.
I had shifted into 4hi for something prior to getting on the highway and forgot to go back to 2hi. No issues whatsoever other than a little extra tire wear.
Is the son aware that the rifle and scope combination is worth much more? If not, are you okay with taking advantage of your friend's son?
I think you need to make sure the son is aware of the fair market value, and then make the choice to either buy it from him at that price, or not.
I'd be surprised if there have been any studies done on the friction of smooth asphalt vs asphalt that's been shaved down and in the process of being resurfaced.
I used to have a table showing the comparative frictions of different road surfaces, for the purpose of estimating vehicle speed...
