Obviously just because something has a strange name doesn't mean its bad, and in fact, many of the things that have strange names are just processed derivatives of things that are completely natural.

Here is a general rule that applies to pretty much any food product: the less ingredients and the less unpronounceable names on the side panel, the better it usually tastes and the less harmful it is to you. (Though keep in mind ice cream isn't exactly health food).
