    Metal Shavings in ATF. Normal???

AFAIK the clutch material should be a fine dark black powder. Anything that is 1/2" long probably isn't coming from the clutches. The clutches are a friction material like brakes are, and hence will create something akin to brake dust as they wear. You should determine if the metal is aluminum...

PCV valve quality difference: OEM Honda vs Fram

Twice I bought aftermarket PCV valves for my two Hondas. I can't tell you much about the performance, because they didn't even fit! I had them match part numbers in the computer, so it was the right one. The first one physically didn't fit because I needed one with an elbow, and the straight one...

    Ways to save gas.

Throttle position and engine load are directly linked. I feel that it's criticial to minimize the throttle opening for optimum fuel efficiency. If you upshift too early, you'll require a little more throttle pressure to maintain your speed, and since you're increasing load, you are actually...

do you have to always change oil drain washers

A new washer requires less torque to create a tight seal, so there is less chance of stripping out the threads. Hondas uses an aluminum crush washer, and I always change the one on my car, and at work, I always change the washer.

Removing Lock Bolt from Caliper Brakes

lately, whenever I have trouble freeing a stuck bolt I try and tighten it first. Often times it'll move just a hair (not more than that or you'll stretch the bolt) and this breaks the corrosion, and then the bolt comes out.

    Coolest toy ever

Awesome toy, and they look fairly durable too. It makes me miss when I had my old R/C car. Too bad the guy who made the video doesn't know the difference between your and you're.

    Mityvac Vacuum Pump

I do remember the owner's manual, and it says it shouldn't need to be lubed, but if you do, use a silicone grease...i think it recommended silicone spray actually. A petroleum based lube will cause the seals to swell and soften, making them prone to damage.

Tip: Reduce Torque When Using Antiseize

Okay, here's what I've got From my textbook (Automotive Technology 3rd edition by Jack Erjavec, Delmar publishing) http://www.acranox.org/images/table13-2.jpg http://www.acranox.org/images/table13-3.jpg From the Pocket Reference (3rd edition, Thomas J. Glover, Sequoia publishing)...

Tip: Reduce Torque When Using Antiseize

There is a little book called the "Pocket Ref" You can get it on Amazon It outlines several different lubricants and how to adjust torque accordingly. These numbers are also in my textbook for my automotive class. If anyone wants, I'll post pictures of the pages from the books.

    water decarbonization...

No, it's not a Y. Clearly a picture would be worth a thousand words. Or at least a hundred here, but I don't have a picture available now. Thanks for the help though. I'm sure that the water was going into the intake, it had to have been. I guess maybe there was just enough blowby to put a lot...

    Low compression-- Most likely cause?

I'm not sure I can agree with that. If the intake valve isn't letting enough air into the engine you'll have decreased volumetric efficiency. The less air in the cylinder the less heat and pressure is produced, you'll get lower compression readings. This is why cranking compression is higher...

    water decarbonization...

quick question. What effect, if any, does the water decarbonization trick have on spark plugs?

    water decarbonization...

No, I didn't actually use the PCV valve. Okay here's my best description. There is a piece of hose, about 4 inches long that forms a loop, and both ends connect to the intake manifold. One side of the hose has the PCV valve, which pops into a grommet. On the side with the valve, it appears that...

    water decarbonization...

Okay, so I decided to try the water through the PCV system trick on my 87 Honda Accord. I know there is carbon buildup on the pistons. Anyhow, I took out the PCV valve which is mounted into the intake manifold. One side has a pipe which runs down towards the block, and the other side seems to...

141,000 Miles and Still has OEM Drums and Shoes and PCV

What is the condition of the rear wheel cylinders? It sounds like the cylinders may leak before the shoes need replacing.
