    Red Line 5W50 - 5939 Miles - 2011 M3 S65B40

Yes that seems to be the new hot topic with these cars, the main bearings. I guess they're getting just old enough now where that's coming into play. I certainly hope not, but the amount of money I and others spend modding these, I can't say a new engine is exorbitantly expensive in comparison...

Yes indeed I did pay for two UOA's of the same sample! You know, for science ;) Yes as another poster mentioned, I thought GC was included. I think it was on the last test I had done with them for a different oil/car. I'll call them tomorrow and see if they can add that, or why it's missing...

No makeup oil. I chose it for winter also since I daily my car in Chicago. Surprised at the BMW 10w60 UOA above. From everything I read people said it sheared a lot, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Maybe because starting viscosity is higher? Will have to take another look at it...

    Red Line 5W50 - 5939 Miles - 2011 M3 S65B40

Crap you're right, I forgot! Been a while. Thank you 🙏 Also forgot to add, Rod bearings were done in the dead of winter of 2023/24. Few cold starts in negative and single digit temps. Not sure if the Aluminum and Copper numbers are concerning or not, or the Tin that OAI highlights. Previous...

Anyone try or heard of 'Fuel Doctor' from Australia?

Which one of these looks like the one I posted with the long neck? I'll wait. Anyway I asked to buy a single 250ml bottle and was refused, saying "having never used the product would be doing you and the product a disservice." Then was asked what vehicle etc etc and suggested to buy nearly $200...

Anyone try or heard of 'Fuel Doctor' from Australia?

0h yes Castrol, forgot to mention that. Nice to see someone who actually uses it, even if not in a car. I'm thinking I'll order some at least for the bottle, and try it for a tank. What's the worst that can happen...

Anyone try or heard of 'Fuel Doctor' from Australia?

I don't want to launch into this discussion and derail the thread. Just curious about this product. But you make a good point, perhaps I can make my life easier by foregoing all this and just pumping fuel at the station. It has crossed my mind, but then what do I do with all the TC-W3 and...

Anyone try or heard of 'Fuel Doctor' from Australia?

In my search of a convenient measure and pour solution for my TC-W3 and Redline SI-1 cocktail, came across this fuel system cleaning additive from Australia: https://fueldoctors.com.au/ Fuel Doctor Fuel Conditioner is specifically formulated for Diesel, Petrol and two-stroke engines to clean...

    Mobil Delvac 1 ESP 5W-40 CK-4 - 4,639 Miles - 2010 Subaru Impreza WRX EJ255

Definitely tempted too. I think 6k wouldn't be an issue, but like you said, not worth the risk in this application. That's crazy cheap. Not as cheap as I bought my stock but did cash on some nice promos, although Mobil killed their Delvac Gold Program recently. Think it ended up being about $12...

Why does gasoline smell so good?

When I was 10 and in India my uncle removed the fuel line from his Moped to let some fuel drain so we can enjoy the smell. Good times.

    2004 Volvo XC70 2.5T, Mobil 1 0W40, 5,000 miles

I wouldn't call that 'a lot of idling'. @himemsys I assume that was asked in regard to fuel dilution leading to viscosity drop?
